17 Und ihr werdet gehaffet seyn von Jedermann, um meines Namens wil

len.

18 Und ein Haar von euermi Haupte soll nicht umkommen.

19 Fasset eure Seelen mit Geduld.

20 Wann ihr aber sehen werdet Je= rusalem belagert mit einem Heere; so merket, daß herbey kommen ist ihre Berwüstung.

21 Alsdann wer in Judäa ist, der fliehe auf das Gebirge; und wer mit ten darinnen ist, der weiche heraus; und wer auf dem Lande ist, der komme nicht hinein.

22 Denn das sind die Tage der Rache, daß erfüllet werde alles, was geschrieben ist.

23 Wehe aber den Schwängern und Säugerinnen in denselbigen Tagen; denn es wird grosse Noth auf Erden seyn, und ein Zorn über dieß Volk.

24 Und sie werden fallen durch des Schwertes Schärfe, und gefangen geführet unter alle Völker; und Jerufalem wird zertreten werden von den Heiden, bis daß der Heiden Zeit erfüllet wird.

25 Und es werden Zeichen geschehen an der Sonne, und Mond, und Sternen; und auf Erden wird den Leuten bange seyn, und werden zagen; und das Meer und die Wasserwogen werden braufen.

26 Und die Menschen werden verschmachten vor Furcht, und vor Warten der Dinge, die kommen sollen auf Erden; denn auch der Himmel Kräfte sich bewegen werden.

17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

19 In your patience possess ye your souls.

20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

21 Then let them which are in in Judea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which, are written may be fulfilled.

23 But wo unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! for there shall. be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

25 ¶ And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven

shall be shaken.

28 Wann aber dieses anfängt zu ge

29 Und er fagte ihnen ein Gleichniß: Sehet an den Feigenbaum, und alle Bäume.

30 Wann sie jetzt ausschlagen, so sehet ihr es an ihnen, und merket, daß jetzt der Sommer nahe ist.

31 Also auch ihr, wann ihr dieß alles fehet angehen, so wisset, daß das Neich Gottes nahe ist.

32 Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Dieß Geschlecht wird nicht vergehen, bis daß es alles geschehe.

33 Himmel und Erde werden vergehen, aber meine Worte vergehen nicht.

34 Aber hütet euch, daß eure Herzen nicht beschweret werden mit Freffen und Saufen, und mit Sorgen der Nahrung, und komme dieser Tag schnell über euch.

35 Denn wie ein Fallstrick wird er kommen über alle, die auf Erden woh

nen.

29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig-tree, and all the trees;

30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your ownselves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass

away.

34 T And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

37 Und er lehrete des Tages im Tempel; des Nachts aber gieng er hinaus und blieb über Nacht am Dehlberge.

38 und alles Volk machte sich frühe auf zu ihm, im Tempel ihn zu hören.

37 And in the day-time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.

CHAPTER XXII.

the feast of unleavened

2. Und die Hohenpriester und Schriftgelehrten trachteten, wie sie ihn tödteten; und fürchteten sich vor dem Volfe.

3 Es war aber der Satanas gefahren in den Judas, genannt Ischarioth, der da war aus der Zahl der Zwölfe. 4 Und er gieng hin, und redete mit den Hohenpriestern und mit den Haupt

2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him: for they feared the people.

3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests

leuten, wie er ihn wollte ihnen überantworten.

5 Und sie wurden froh, und gelobten ihm Geld zu geben.

6 Und er versprach sich, und suchte Gelegenheit, daß er ihn überantwortete ohne Numor.

7 Es kam nun der Tag der süssen Brode, auf welchen man mußte opfern das Osterlamm.

8 Und er sandte Petrum und Johannem, und sprach: Gehet hin, bereitet uns das Osterlamm, auf daß wir es essen.

9 Sie aber sprachen zu ihm: Wo willst du, daß wir es bereiten?

10 Er sprach zu ihnen : Siehe, wann ihr hinein kommt in die Stadt, wird euch ein Mensch begegnen, der trägt einen Wasserkrug; folget ihm nach in das Haus, da er hinein gehet.

11 Und faget zu dem Hausherrn : Der Meister läßt dir sagen: Wo ist die Herberge, darinnen ich das Osterlamm essen möge mit meinen Jüngern?

12 Und er wird euch einen großen gepflasterten Saal zeigen; daselbst bereitet es..

13 Sie giengen hin, und fanden, wie er ihnen gesagt hatte, und bereiteten das Osterlamm.

14 Und da die Stunde kam, setzte er sich nieder, und die zwölf Apostel mit ihm.

15 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Mich hat herzlich verlanget, dieß Osterlamm mit euch zu essen, ehe denn ich leide.

16 Denn ich sage euch, daß ich hinfort nicht mehr davon essen werde, bis daß erfüllet werde im Neiche Gottes.

17 Und er nahm den Kelch, dankte, und sprach: Nehmet denselben, und theilet ihn unter euch.

18 Denn ich sage euch: Ich werde nicht trinken von dem Gewächse des Weinstocks, bis das Reich Gottes komme.

19 Und er nahm das Brod, dankte und brach eß und gab es ihnen, und

5 And they were, glad, and covenanted to give him money.

6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

7 T Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.

8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.

9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare

10 And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow

him into the house where he entereth in.

11 And ye shall say unto the good man of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guest-chamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

12 And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

13 And they went and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him..

15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I sûffer.

16 For 1 say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves.

18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

19 T And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and

sprach: Das ist mein Leib, der für euch gegeben wird; das thut zu meinem Gedächtnisse.

20 Deffelbigen gleichen auch den Kelch, nach dem Abendmahle, und sprach: Das ist der Kelch, das neue Testament in meinem Blute, das für ench vergossen wird.

21 Doch siehe, die Hand meines Verräthers ist mit mir über Tische.

22 Und zwar des Menschen Sohn gehet hin, wie es beschlossen ist. Doch wehe demselbigen Menschen, durch wel chen er verrathen wird.

23 Und sie fiengen an zu fragen unter sich selbst, welcher es doch wäre unter ihnen, der das thun würde?

24 E8 erhob sich auch ein Zank unter ihnen, welcher unter ihnen sollte für den Gröffesten gehälten werden?

25 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Die weltlichen Könige herrschen, und die Gewaltigen heißt man gnädige Herren;

26 Ihr aber nicht also; sondern der Gröffeste unter euch soll seyn wie der Jüngste, und der Vornehmste wie ein Diener.

27 Denn welcher ist der Gröffeste ? Der zu Tische sitzet, oder der da dienet? Ist es nicht also, daß der zu Tische sitzet? Ich aber bin unter euch wie ein Diener.

28 Ihr aber sehd es, die ihr beharret habt beh mir in meinen Anfechtungen.

29 Und ich will euch das Reich bescheiden, wie mirs mein Vater beschieden hat;

30 Daß ihr effen und trinken sollt über meinem Tische in meinem Reiche, und sitzen auf Stühlen, und richten die zwölf Geschlechter Israels.

31 Der Herr aber sprach: Simon, Simon! siche, der Satanas hat euer begehret, daß er cuch möchte sichten, wie den Weizen.

32 Jch aber habe für dich gebeten, daß dein Glaube nicht aufhöre. Und wenn du dermaleins dich bekehrest, so stärke deine Brüder.

gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

21 T But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.

22 And truly the Son of man goeth as it was determined: but wo unto that man by whom he is betrayed !

23 And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

24 T And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.

25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

28 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.

29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed

unto me;

30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

31 ¶ And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

33 Er sprach aber zu ihm: Herr, ich bin bereit, mit dir ins Gefängniß und in den Tod zu gehen.

34 Er aber sprach: Petre, ich sage dir, der Hahn wird heute nicht krähen, che denn du dreymal verleugnet hast, daß du mich kennest.

35 Und er sprach zu ihnen: So oft ich euch gesandt habe ohne Beutel, ohne Tasche, und ohne Schuhe, habt ihr auch je Mangel gehabt? Sie sprachen: Nie feinen.

36 Da sprach er zu ihnen: Aber nun, wer einen Beutel hat, der nehme ihn, desselbigen gleichen auch die Tasche. Wer aber nicht hat, verkaufe sein Kleid, und kaufe ein Schwert.

37 Denn ich sage euch: Es muß noch das auch vollendet werden an mir, das geschrieben stehet: Er ist unter die Ülebelthäter gerechnet. Denn was von mir geschrieben ist, das hat ein Ende.

38 Sie sprachen aber: Herr, siehe, hier sind zwey Schwerter. Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Es ist genug.

39 Und er gieng hinaus nach seiner Gewohnheit an den Oehlberg. Es folgten ihm aber seine Jünger nach an denselbigen Ort.

40 Und als er dahin kam, sprach er zu ihnen: Betet, auf daß ihr nicht in Anfechtung fallet.

41 Und er riß sich von ihnen bey einem Steinwurfe, und kniete nieder, betete,

42 Und sprach: Vater, willst du, so nimm diesen Kelch von mir: doch nicht mein, sondern dein Wille geschehe.

43 Es erschien ihm aber ein Engel vom Himmel, und stärkte ihn..

44 Und es kam, daß er mit dem Tode rang und betete heftiger. Es ward aber sein Schweiß wie Blütstropfen, die fielen auf die Erde.

45 Und er stand auf von dem Gebete, und kam zu seinen Jüngern, und fand ste schlafen vor Traurigkeit.

46 Und sprach zu ihnen: Was schla

33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.

34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

35 And he said unto them, When sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

39 And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless, not my will, but thine, be done.

43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

44 And being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

46 And said unto them, Why
