29 Und werden hervor gehen, die da Gutes gethan haben, zur Auferstehung des Lebens, die aber Uebels gethan haben, zur Auferstehung des Gerichts.

30 Ich kann nichts von mir selbst thun. Wie ich höre, so richte ich, und mein Gericht ist recht; denn ich suche nicht meinen Willen, sondern des Vaters Willen, der mich gesandt hat. 31 So ich von mir selbst zeuge, so ist mein Zeugniß nicht wahr.

32 Ein anderer ist es, der von mir zeuget; und ich weiß, daß das Zeugniß wahr ist, das er von mir zeuget.

33 Ihr schicktet zu Johannes, und er zeugete von der Wahrheit.

34 Ich aber nehme nicht Zeugniß von Menschen; sondern solches sage ich, auf daß ihr selig werdet.

35 Er war ein brennendes und scheinendes Licht; ihr aber wolltet eine kleine Weile fröhlich sehn von seinem Lichte. 36 Ich aber habe ein größeres Zeugniß, denn Johannis Zeugniß; denn die Werke, die mir der Vater gegeben hat, daß ich ste vollende, dieselbigen Werke, die ich thue, zeugen von mir, daß mich der Vater gesandt habe.

37 Und der Vater, der mich gesandt hat, derselbige hat von mir gezeuget. Ihr habt nie weder seine Stimme gehöret, noch seine Gestalt gesehen ;

38 Und sein Wort habt ihr nicht in euch wohnend; denn ihr glaubet dem nicht, den er gesandt hat.

39 Suchet in der Schrift, denn ihr meinet, ihr habt das ewige Leben darinnen; und sie ists, die von mir zeuget.

40 Und ihr wollt nicht zu mir fommen, daß ihr das Leben haben möchtet. 41 Ich nehme nicht Ehre von Menschen.

42 Aber ich kenne euch, daß ihr nicht 'Gottes Liebe in euch habt.

43 Ich bin gekommen in meines Vaters Namen, und ihr nehmet mich nicht an. So ein anderer wird in seinem eigenen Namen kommen, den iverdet ihr annehmen.

29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. 31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

32 T There is another that beareth witness of me, and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.

34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.

35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. 36 T But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

37 And the Father himself which

hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

39 T Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: And they are they which testify of me.

40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

41 I receive not honour from men.

42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

44 Wie könnet ihr glauben, die ihr Ehre von einander nehmet? Und die Ehre, die von Gott allein ist, suchet ihr nicht.

45 Ihr sollt nicht meinen, daß ich euch vor dem Vater verklagen werde.

46 Wenn ihr Most glaubtet, so glaubtet ihr auch mir; denn er hat von mir geschrieben..

47 So ihr aber seinen Schriften nicht glaubet, wie werdet ihr meinen Worten glauben?

3 Jesus aber ging hinauf auf einen Berg, und setzte sich daselbst mit seinen Jüngern.

4 Es war aber nahe die Ostern, der Juden Fest.

5 Da hob Jesus feine Augen auf, und siehet, daß viel Volks zu ihm kommt, und spricht zu Philippo: Wo kaufen wir Brod, daß diese essen?

6 (Das sagte er aber, ihn zu versuchen; denn er wußte wohl, was er thun wollte.)

7 Philippus antwortete ihm: Zweh hundert Pfennig werth Brods ist nicht genug unter site, daß ein jeglicher unter ihnen ein wenig nehme.

8 Spricht zu ihm einer seiner Jünger, Andreas, der Bruder Simonis Petri:

9 Es ist ein Knabe hier, der hat fünf Gerstenbrode, und zween Fische; aber was ist das unter so viele?

10 Jesus aber sprach: Schaffet, daß sich das Volk lagere. Es war aber viel Gras an dem Orte. Da lagerten sich heh fünf tausend Mann.

46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

CHAPTER VI.

AFTER these things Jesus went

over the sea of Galilee, which

is the sea of Tiberias.

2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

5 ¶ When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread that these may eat?

6 (And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.)

7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley-loaves, and two small fishes but what are they among so many?

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. (Now there was much grass in the place.) So the men sat down in number about five thousand.

11 Jesus aber nahm die Brode, dankte, und gab sie den Jüngern, die Jünger aber denen, die sich gelagert hatten; deffelbigen gleichen auch von den Fischen, wie viel er wollte.

12 Da sie aber satt waren, sprach er zu seinen Jüngern: Sammelt die übrigen Brocken, daß nichts umkomme.

13 Da fammelten sie, und fülleten zwölf Körbe mit Brocken, von den fünf Gerstenbroden, die überblieben denen, die gespeiset worden.

14 Da nun die Menschen das Zeichen sahen, das Jesus that, sprachen sie: Das ist wahrlich der Prophet, der in die Welt kommen soll.

15 Da Jesus nun merkte, daß sie kommen würden, und ihn haschen, daß sie ihn zum Könige machten, entwich er abermal auf den Berg, er selbst allein.

16 Am Abend aber gingen die Jünger hinab an das Meer,

17 Und traten in das Schiff, und kamen über das Meer gen Capernaum. Und es war schon finster geworden, und Jesus war nicht zu ihnen gekommen.

18 Und das Meer erhob sich von einem großen Winde.

19 Da sie nun gerudert hatten beh fünf und zwanzig oder drevßig Feldweges, sahen sie Jesum auf dem Meere daher gehen, und nahe an das Schiff kommen; und fürchteten sich.

20 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Ich bin es, fürchtet euch nicht.

21 Da wollten sie ihn in das Schiff nehmen; und alsobald war das Schiff am Lande, da sie hinführen.

22 Des andern Tages sah das Volk, das diesseit des Meers stand, daß kein anderes Schiff daselbst war, denn das einige, darein feine Jünger getreten waren, und daß Jesus nicht mit seinen Jüngern in das Schiff getreten war,

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes, as much as they would.

12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley-loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that Prophet that should come into the world.

15 ¶ When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,

17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.

18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.

20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.

21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

22 T The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus

23 Es kamen aber andere Schiffe von Tiberias nahe zu der Stätte, da sie das Brod gegessen hatten durch des Herrn Danksagung.

24 Da nun das Volk sah, daß Jesus nicht da war, noch seine Jünger, traten sie auch in die Schiffe, und kamen gen Capernaum, und süchten Jesum.

25 Und da sie ihn fanden jenseit des Meers, sprachen sie zu ihm: Rabbi, wann bist du her gekommen?

26 Jesus antwortete ihnen, und sprach: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch, ihr suchet mich nicht darum, daß ihr Zeichen gesehen habt, sondern daß ihr von dem Brode gegessen habt, und seyd satt geworden.

27 Wirket Speise, nicht, die vergänglich ist, sondern die da bleibet in das ewige Leben, welche euch des Menschen Sohn geben wird; denn denselbigen hat Gott der Vater verstegelt.

28 Da sprachen sie zu ihm: Was follen wir thun, daß wir Gottes Werke wirken?

29 Jesus antwortete, und sprach zu ihnen: Das ist Gottes Werk, daß ihr an den glaubet, den er gesandt hat.

30 Da sprachen sie zu ihm: Was thust du für ein Zeichen, auf daß wir sehen und glauben dir? Was wirkest du?

31 Unsere Väter haben Manna gegessen in der Wüste, wie geschrieben stehet: Er gab ihnen Brod vom Himmel zu essen.

32 Da sprach Jesus zu ihnen: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage cuch: Moses hat euch nicht Brod vom Himmel gegeben: sondern mein Vater gibt euch das rechte Brod vom Him mel.

33 Denn dies ist das Brod Gottes, das vom Himmel komint, und gibt der Welt das Leben.

23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks :)

24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Yé seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you for him hath God the Father sealed.

28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath

sent.

30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to

eat.

32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

34 Da sprachen sie zu ihm: Herr, gib uns allewege solches Brod.

35 Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Ich bin das Brod des Lebens. Wer zu mir kommt, den wird nicht hungern; und wer an mich glaubt, den wird nimmermehr dürften.

36 Aber ich habe es euch gesagt, daß ihr mich gesehen habt, und glaubet doch nicht.

37 Alles, was mir mein Vater gibt, das kommt zu mir; und wer zu mir kommt, den werde ich nicht hinaus stoßen.

38 Denn ich bin vom Himmel ge= kommen, nicht, daß ich meinen Willen thue, sondern deß, der mich gesandt hat.

34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall never thirst.

36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe

not.

37 All that the Father giveth me, shall come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise

cast out.

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

40 Das ist aber der Wille deßz, der mich gesandt hat, daß, wer den Sohn siehet, und glaubet an ihn, habe das ewige Leben; und ich werde ihn auferwecken am jüngsten Tage.

41 Da murreten die Juden darüber, daß er sagte: Ich bin das Brod, das vom Himmel gekommen ist.

42 Und sprachen: Ist dieser nicht Jesus, Josephs Sohn, deß Vater und Mutter wir fennen? Wie spricht er denn: Ich bin vom Himmel gekommen?

43 Jesus antwortete, und sprach zu ihnen: Murret nicht unter einander.

44 Es kann Niemand zu mir kommen, es sch denn, daß ihn ziehe der Vater, der mich gesandt hat; und ich werde ihn auferwecken am jüngsten Tage.

45 Es stehet geschrieben in den Propheten: Sie werden alle von Gott gelehret seyn. Wer es nun höret vom Vater, und lernet es, der kommt zu mir.

46 Nicht, daß Jemand den Vater

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

42 And they said, Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him and I will raise him up at the last day.

45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

46 Not that any man hath seen
