16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary.

ihm: Rabbuni! das heißt, Meister.

17 Spricht Jesus zu ihr: Rühre mich nicht an, denn ich bin noch nicht auf gefahren zu meinem Vater. Gehe aber hin zu meinen Brüdern, und fage ihnen: Ich fahre auf zu meinem Vater, und zu eurem Vater, zu meinem Gott, und zu eurem Gott.

18 Maria Magdalena kommt, und verkündiget den Jüngern: Ich habe den Herrn gesehn, und solches hat er zu mir gesagt.

19 Am Abend aber deffelbigen Sabbaths, da die Jünger versammelt, und die Thüren verschlossen waren, aus Furcht vor den Juden, kam Jesus, und trat mitten ein, und spricht zu ihnen: Friede seh mit euch!

20 Und als er das fagte, zeigte er ihnen die Hände und seine Seite. Da wurden die Jünger froh, daß sie den Herrn sahen.

21 Da sprach Jesus abermal zu ihnen Friede seh mit euch! Gleichwie mich der Vater gesandt hat, so sende ich euch.

22 Und da er das sagte, blies er sie an, und sprach zu ihnen: Nehmet hin den heiligen Geist.

23 Welchen ihr die Sünden erlaffet, denen sind sie erlassen; und welchen ihr sie behaltet, denen sind sie behalten.

24 Thomas aber, der Zwölfen einer, der da heißt Zwilling, war nicht bey ihnen, da Jesus kam.

25 Da sagten die andern Jünger zu ihm: Wir haben den Herrn gesehen. Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Es seh denn, daß ich in seinen Händen. sehe die Nägelmahle, und lege meinen Finger in die Nägelmahle, und lege meine Hand in seine Seite, will ich es nicht glauben.

17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not: for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God.

18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her. 19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad when they saw the Lord.

21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even ́so send I you.

22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost.

23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

24 T But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

mas mit ihnen. Kommt Jesus, da die Thüren verschlossen waren, und tritt mitten ein, und spricht: Friebe seh mit euch!

27 Darnach spricht er zu Thoma : Reiche deinen Finger her, und stehe meine Hände; und reiche deine Hand her, und lege sie in meine Seite; und seh nicht ungläubig, sondern gläubig.

28 Thomas antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Mein Herr, und mein Gott! 29 Spricht Jesus zu ihm: Dieweil du mich gesehen hast, Thoma, so glaubest du. Selig sind, die nicht sehen, und doch glauben.

30 Auch viele andere Zeichen that Jesus vor seinen Jüngern, die nicht geschrieben sind in diesem Buche.

31 Diese aber sind geschrieben, daß ihr glaubet, Jesus seh der Christ, der Sohn Gottes; und daß ihr durch den Glauben das Leben habt in seinem Namen.

Das 21 Capitel.

Darnach offenbarte sich Jesus aber

mal den Jüngern an dem Meere beh Tiberias. Er offenbarte sich aber also.

2 Es waren beh einander Simon Petrus und Thomas, der da heißt Zwilling, und Nathanael von Cana aus Galiläa, und die Söhne Zebedäi, und andere zween seiner Jünger.

3 Spricht Simon Petrus zu ihnen: Ich will hin fischen gehen. Sie sprachen zu ihm: Eo wollen wir mit dir gehen. Sie giengen hinaus und trafen in das Schiff alsobald, und in derselbigen Nacht flengen sie nichts.

4 Da es aber jetzt Morgen war, stand Jesus am Ufer; aber die Jünger wußten es nicht, daß es Jesus war.

5 Spricht Jesus zu ihnen: Kinder, habt ihr nichts zu essen? Sie antworteten ihm: Nein,

6 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Werfet das Netz zur Rechten des Schiffs, so

27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless, but believing.

28 AndThomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

30 T And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book.

31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

CHAPTER XXI.

AFTER these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias: and on this wise shewed he himself.

2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.

3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore; but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the

7 Da spricht der Jünger, welchen Jesus lieb hatte, zu Petro: Es ist der Herr. Da Simon Petrus hörete, daß cs der Herr war, gürtete er das Hemd um sich (denn er war nackend) und warf sich in das Meer.

8 Die andern Jünger aber kamen auf dem Schiffe (denn sie waren nicht ferne vom Lande, sondern beh zwet hundert Ellen,) und zogen das Netz mit den Fischen.

9 Als sie nun austraten, auf das Land, sahen sie Kohlen gelegt, und Fische darauf, und Brod.

10 Spricht Jesus zu ihnen: Bringet her von den Fischen, die ihr jetzt gefangen habt.

11 Simon Petrus stieg hinein, und zog das Netz auf das Land voll groffer Fische, hundert und dreh und fünfzig. Und wiewohl ihrer so viele waren, zerris doch das Netz nicht.

12 Spricht Jésus zu ihnen: Kommt und haltet das Mahl. Niemand aber unter den Jüngern durfte ihn fragen: Wer bist du? Denn sie wußten c8, daß es der Herr war.

13 Da kommt Jesus, und nimmt das Brod, und gibt es ihnen, desselbigen gleichen auch die Fische.

14 Das ist nun das dritte Mal, daß Jesus geoffenbaret ist seinen Jüngern, nachdem er von den Todten auferftanden ist.

15 Da sie nun das Mahl gehalten hatten, spricht Jesus zu Simon Petro: Simon Johanna, hast du mich lieber, denn mich diese haben? Er spricht zu ihm: Ja Herr, du weißt, daß ich dich lieb habe. Spricht er zu ihm: Weide meine Lämmer.

16 Spricht er zum andern Male zu ihm: Simon Johannā, hast du mich lieb? Er spricht zu ihm: Ja, Herr, du weißt, daß ich dich lieb habe. Spricht er zu ihm: Weide meine Schafe.

cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked) and did cast himself into the sea.

8 And the other disciples came in a little ship (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits) dragging the net

with fishes.

9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.

11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.

12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.

13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise,

14 This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.

15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord: thou knowest that Í love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord: thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

17 Spricht er zum dritten Male zu ihm: Simon Johanna, hast du mich lieb? Petrus ward traurig, daß er zum dritten Male zu ihm sagte: Hast du mich lieb? und sprach zu ihm: Herr, du weißt alle Dinge; du weißt, daß ich dich lieb habe. Spricht Jesus zu ihm: Weide meine Schafe.

17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

19 Das sagte er aber zu deuten, mit welchem Tode er Gott preisen würde. Da er aber das gesagt, spricht er zu ihm: Folge mir nach.

20 Petrus aber wandte sich um und sah den Jünger folgen, welchen Jesus lieb hatte, der auch an seiner Brust am Abendessen gelegen war, und gefagt hatte: Herr, wer ist es, der dich verräth?

21 Da Petrus diesen sah, spricht er zu Jesu: Herr, was soll aber dieser?

22 Jesus spricht zu ihm: So ich will, daß er bleibe, bis ich tomme, was gehet es dich an? Folge du mir nach.

23 Da gieng eine Rede aus unter den Brüdern: Dieser Jünger stirbt nicht. Und Jesus sprach nicht zu ihm: Er stirbt nicht; fondern: So ich will, daß er bleibe, bis ich komme, was gehet es dich an?

24 Dieß ist der Jünger, der von diesen Dingen zeuget, und hat dieß geschrieben. Und wir wissen, daß sein Zeugniß wahrhaftig ist.

25 Es sind auch viele andere Dinge, die Jesus gethan hat, welche, so sie sollten Eins nach dem Andern geschrieben werden, achte ich, die Welt würde die Bücher nicht begreifen, die zu beschreiben wären.

19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.

20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved, following; (which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?)

21 Peter seeing him, saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?

22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me.

23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? 24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.

25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

Das 1 Capitel.

Die cifte Rede habe ich zwar gethan,

licher Theophile, von allem dem, das Jesus anfieng, behdes zu thun und zu lehren,

2. Bis an den Tag, da er aufgenom= men ward, nachdem er den Aposteln, (welche er hatte erwählet) durch den Heiligen Geist Befehl gethan hatte;

3 Welchen er sich nach seinem Leiden lebendig erzeiget hatte, durch mancher leh Erweisungen, und ließ sich sehen unter ihnen vierzig Tage lang, und redete mit ihnen vom Reiche Gottes.

4 Und als er sie versammelt hatte, befahl er ihnen, daß sie nicht von Jerusalem wichen, sondern warteten auf die Verheissung des Vaters, welche ihr habt gehöret, (sprach er) von mir.

5 Denn Johannes hat mit Wasser getauft: Ihr aber sollt mit dem heiligen Geiste getauft werden, nicht lange nach diesen Tagen.

6 Die aber, so zusammen gekommen waren, fragten ihn, und sprachen: Herr, wirst du auf diese Zeit wieder aufrichten das Reich Israel?

7 Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Es gebühret euch nicht, zu wissen Zeit oder Stunde, welche der Vater feiner Macht vorbehalten hat.

8 Sondern ihr werdet die Kraft des Heiligen Geistes empfangen, welcher auf euch kommen wird; und werdet meine Zeugen seyn zu Jerusalem, und in ganz Judäa und Samaria, und bis an das Ende der Erde.

CHAPTER I.

THE former treatise have I made,

O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion, by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

4 And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the Father hath put in his own power.

8 But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
