27 Wahrlich ja, sie haben sich verfammelt über dein heiliges Kind Jefum, welchen du gesalbet hast, Herodes und Pontius Pilatus, mit den Heiden und dem Volke Israel,

28 Zu thun, was deine Hand und dein Rath zuvor bedacht hat, das geschehen sollte.

29 Und nun, Herr, siehe an ihr Drohen, und gib deinen Knechten, mit aller Freudigkeit zu reden dein Wort,

30 Und strecke deine Hand aus, daß Gesundheit, und Zeichen, und Wunder geschehen, durch den Namen deines heiligen Kindes Jesu.

27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thine holy child Jesus.

32 Der Menge aber der Gläubigen war ein Herz und eine Seele; auch feiner sagte von seinen Gütern, daß sie seine wären, sondern es war ihnen alles gemein.

they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart, and of one soul: neither said any of them that aught of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things com

34 Es war auch keiner unter ihnen, der Mangel hatte; denn wie Viele ihrer waren, die da Accker oder Häuser hatten, verkauften sie dieselben, und brachten das Geld des verkauften Guts, 35 Und legten es zu der Apostel Füf= fen und man gab einem Jeglichen, was ihm Noth war.

36 Joses aber, mit dem Zunamen von den Aposteln genannt Barnabas (das heißt: ein Sohn des Trostes) vom Geschlechte ein Levit aus Cypern,

37 Der hatte einen Acker, und verkaufte ihn, und brachte das Geld, und legte cs zu der Apostel Füßen.

34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet and distribution was made unto every man according as he had neeď.

36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,

37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

CHAPTER V.

ra, verkaufte seine Güter;

2 Und entwandte etwas vom Gelde, mit Wissen feines Weibes, und brachte einen Theil, und legte es zu der Apostel Füssen.

3 Petrus aber sprach: Anania, warum hat der Satan dein Herz erfüllet, daß du dem heiligen Geiste logest, und entwendetest etwas vom Gelde des Ackers?

4 hättest du ihn doch wohl mögen behalten, da du ihn hättest; und da er verkauft war, war es auch in deiner Gewalt. Warum hast du denn solches in deinem Herzen vorgenommen? Du hast nicht Menschen, sondern Gott gelogen.

5 Da aber Ananias diese Worte hörete, ficl er nieder und gab den Geist auf. Und es kam eine grosse Furcht über alle, die dießz höreten.

6 Es standen aber die Jünglinge auf, und thaten ihn beyseits, und trugen ihn hinaus, und begruben ihn.

7 Und es begab sich über eine Weile, beh drehen Stunden, kam sein Weib hinein, und wußte nicht, was geschehen |

war.

8 Aber Petrus antwortete ihr: Sage mir, habt ihr den Acker so theuer verkauft? Sie sprach: Ja, so theuer.

9 Petrus aber sprach zu ihr: Warum send ihr denn eins geworden, zu verfuchen den Geist des Herrn? Siche, die Füsse derer, die deinen Mann begraben haben, sind vor der Thüre, und werden dich hinaus tragen.

10 Und alsobald fiel sie zu feinen Füssen, und gab den Geist auf. Da kamen die Jünglinge, und fanden sie todt, trugen sie hinaus, und begruben sie bey ihrem Manne.

11 Und es kam eine grosse Furcht über die ganze Gemeine, und über alle, die solches höreten.

12 Es geschahen aber viele Zeichen

2 And kept back part of the price, (his wife also being privy to it,) and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

4 While it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

5 And Ananias hearing these words, fell down, and gave up the ghost. And great fear came on all them that heard these things.

6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold the feet of them which. have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost. And the young men came in, and found her dead, and carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

12 And by the hands of the

15 Also, daß ste die Kranken auf die Gaffen heraus trugen, und legten sie auf Betten und Bahren, auf daß, wenn Petrus käme, sein Schatten ihrer etliche überschattete.

16 Es tamen auch herzu Viele von den umliegenden Städten gen Jerusalem, und brachten die Kranken, und die von unsaubern Geistern gepeiniget waren, und wurden alle gesund.

17 Es stand aber auf der Hohepriester, und alle, die mit ihm waren, (welches ist die Secte der Sadducäer,) und wurden voll Eifers,

18 Und legten die Hände an die Apostel, und warfen sie in das gemeine Gefängniß.

19 Aber der Engel des Herrn that in der Nacht die Thüre des Gefängnisses auf, und führte sie heraus, und sprach:

20 Gehet hin, und tretet auf, und redet im Tempel zum Volke alle Worte dieses Lebens.

21. Da sie das gehöret hatten, gin= gen sie früh in den Tempel, und lehreten. Der Hohepriester aber fam, und die mit ihm waren, und riefen zusammen den Rath, und alle Aeltesten der Kinder von Israel; und fandten hin zum Gefängnisse, sie zu holen.

22 Die Diener aber kamen dar, und fanden sie nicht im Gefängnisse; kamen wieder, und verkündigten,

23 Und sprachen: Das Gefängnißz fanden wir verschlossen mit allem Fleiße, und die Hüter draußen stehen vor

apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

13 And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.

14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women ;)

15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits; and they were healed every one.

17 T Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,

18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison-doors, and brought them forth, and said,'

20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

21 And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

22 But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned, and told,

23 Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before

25 Da kam einer dar, der verkündigte ihnen: Sehet, die Männer, die ihr in das Gefängniß geworfen habt, sind im Tempel, stehen und lehren das Volk.

26 Da ging hin der Hauptmann mit den Dienern, und holeten sie, nicht mit Gewalt, denn sie fürchteten sich vor dem Volke, daß sie nicht gesteiniget würden.

27 Und als sie sie brachten, stelleten sie sie vor den Rath. Und der Hohe priester fragte sie,

28. Und sprach: Haben wir euch nicht mit Ernst geboten, daß ihr nicht solltet lehren in diesem Namen? Und sehet, ihr habt Jerusalem erfüllet mit eurer Lehre, und wollt dieses Menschen Blut über uns führen.

29 Petrus aber antwortete, und die Apostel, und sprachen: Man muß Gott mehr gehorchen, denn den Menschen.

30 Der Gott unserer Väter hat Je= fum auferwecket, welchen ihr erwürget habt und an das Holz gehänget.

31 Den hat Gott durch seine rechte Hand erhöhet zu einem Fürsten und Heilande, zu geben Israel Buße und Vergebung der Sünden.

32 Und wir sind seine Zeugen über diese Worte, und der heilige Geist, welchen Gott gegeben hat denen, die ihm gehorchen.

33 Da sie das höreten, ging's ihnen durchs Herz, und dachten sie zu tödten.

34 Da stand aber auf im Rathe ein Pharifäer, mit Namen Gamaliel, ein Schriftgelehrter, wohl gehalten vor allem Volke, und hieß die Apostel ein wenig hinaus thun.

35 Und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr Männer von Israel, nehmet euer selbst

the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

24 Now when the high priest, and the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.

25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.

26 Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council and the high priest asked them,

28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you, that ye should not teach in this name? and behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

29 T Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than

men.

30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree:

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them."

34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

35 And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves
