ihr Lieben, daß ein Tag vor dem Herrn ist wie tausend Jahre, und tausend Jahre wie ein Tag.

9 Der Herr verziehet nicht die Verheißung, wie es etliche für einen Verzug achten; sondern er hat Geduld mit uns, und will nicht, daß Jemand verloren werde, sondern daß sich Jedermann zur Buße bekehre.

10 Es wird aber des Herrn Tag kommen als ein Dieb in der Nacht; in welchem die Himmel zergehen wer den mit großem Krachen, die Elemente aber werden vor Hitze zerschmelzen, und die Erde und die Werke, die darinnen sind, werden verbrennen.

11 So nun das Alles foll zergehen, wie sollt ihr denn geschickt sehn mit heiligem Wandel und gottseligem Wefen,

12 Daß ihr wartet und eilet zu der Zukunft des Tages des Herrn, in welchem die Himmel vom Feuer zergehen, und die Elemente vor Hitze zerschmelzen werden.

13 Wir warten aber eines neuen Himmels, und einer neu en Erde, nach seiner Verheißung, in welchen Gerechtigkeit wohnet.

14 Darum, meine Lieben, dieweil ihr darauf warten follet, so thut Fleiß, daß ihr vor ihm unbefleckt und unsträflich im Frieden erfunden werdet.

15 Und die Geduld unsers Herrn achtet für eure Seligkeit; als auch unser lieber Bruder Paulus, nach der Weisheit, die ihm gegeben ist, euch geschrieben hat.

16 Wie er auch in allen Briefen davon redet, in welchen sind etliche Dinge schwer zu verstehen; welche verwirren die Ungelehrigen und Leichtfertigen, wie auch die andern Schriften, zu ihrer eigenen Verdammniß.

17 Ihr aber, meine Lieben, weil ihr das zuvor wisset, so verwahret euch, daß ihr nicht durch Irrthum der ruch lofen Leute sammt ihnen verführet werdet, und entfallet aus eurer eigenen Festung.

of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

15 And account that the long-suffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given unto him, hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.

18 Wachset aber in der Gnade und Erkenntniß unsers Herrn und Heilandes Jesu Christi. Demselbigen seh Ehre, nun und zu ewigen Zeiten! Amen.

Das 1 Capitel. Das da von Anfang war, das wir gehöret haben, das wir gesehen haben mit unsern Augen, das wir beschauet haben, und unsere Hände betastet haben, vom Worte des Lebens:

2 (Und das Leben ist erschienen, und wir haben gesehen, und zeugen, und verkündigen euch das Leben, das ewig ist, welches war bey dem Vater, und ist uns erschienen.)

3 Was wir gesehen und gehöret haben, das verkündigen wir euch, auf daß auch ihr mit uns Gemeinschaft habet, und unsere Gemeinschaft feh mit dem Vater, und mit seinem Sohne Jesu Christo.

4 Und solches schreiben wir euch, auf daß eure Freude völlig sey.

5 Und das ist die Verkündigung, die wir von ihm gehöret haben, und euch verkündigen, daß Gott ein Licht ist, und in ihm ist keine Finsterniß.

6 So wir sagen, daß wir Gemeinschaft mit ihm haben, und wandeln in Finsterniß, so lügen wir, und thun nicht die Wahrheit.

7 So wir aber im Lichte wandeln, wie Er im Lichte ist, so haben wir Gemeinschaft unter einander; und das Blut Jesu Christi, feines Sohnes, macht uns rein von aller Sünde.

CHAPTER I.

HAT which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us ;)

3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

CHAPTER II.

schreibe ich euch, auf daß ihr nicht sündiget. Und ob Je mand sündiget, so haben wir einen Fürsprecher bey dem Bater, Jesum Chriftum, der gerecht ist.

2 Und derselbige ist die Verföhnung für unsere Sünden, nicht allein aber für die u nfere, sondern auch für der ganzen Welt.

3 Und an dem merken wir, daß wir ihn fennen, so wir seine Gebote halten.

4 Wer da sagt: Ich kenne ihn, und hält seine Gebote nicht, der ist ein Lügner, und in solchem ist keine Wahrheit.

5 Wer aber sein Wort hält, in solchem ist wahrlich die Liebe Gottes voll kommen. Daran erkennen wir, daß wir in Ihm sind.

6 Wer da sagt, daß er in Ihm bleibe, der soll auch wandeln, gleichwie Er gewandelt hat.

7 Brüder, ich schreibe euch nicht ein neues Gebot, sondern das alte Gebot, das ihr habt von Anfang gehabt. Das alte Gebot ist das Wort, das ihr von Anfang gehöret habt.

8 Wiederum ein neues Gebot schreibe ich euch, das da wahrhaftig ist beh ihm und beh euch; denn die Finsternis ist vergangen, und das wahre Licht scheinet jetzt.

9 Wer da sagt, er seh im Lichte, und haffet feinen Bruder, der ist noch in Finsterniß.

write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

6 He that saith he abideth in him, ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning: The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

10 Wer seinen Bruder liebet, der bleibet im Lichte, und ist kein Aergerniß bey ihm.

11 Wer aber feinen Bruder hasset, der ist in Finsterniß, und wandelt in Finsterniß, und weiß nicht, wo er hingehet; denn die Finsterniß hat seine Augen verblendet.

12 Lieben Kindlein, ich schreibe euch, daß euch die Sünden vergeben werden durch seinen Namen.

13 Ich schreibe euch Vätern; denn ihr kennet den, der von Anfang ift. Ich schreibe euch Jünglingen; denn ihr habt den Bösewicht überwunden. Ich schreibe euch Kindern; denn ihr fennet den Vater.

14 Ich habe euch Vätern geschrieben, daß ihr den kennet, der von Anfang ist. Ich habe euch Jünglingen geschricben, daß ihr stark seyd, und das Wort Gottes beh euch bleibet, und den Bösewicht überwunden habt.

15 Habt nicht lieb die Welt, noch was in der Welt ist. So Jemand die Welt lieb hat, in dem ist nicht die Liebe des Vaters.

16 Denn alles, was in der Welt ist (nämlich des Fleisches Lust, und der Augen Lust und hoffärtiges Leben,) ist nicht vom Vater, sondern von der Welt.

17 Und die Welt vergehet mit ihrer Lust; wer aber den Willen Gottes thut, der bleibet in Ewigkeit.

18 Kinder, c8 ist die letzte Stunde; und wie ihr gehöret habt, daß der Widerchrift kommt, und nun sind viele Widerchristen geworden; daher erkennen wir, daß die letzte Stunde ist.

19 Sie sind von uns ausgegangen, aber sie waren nicht von uns; denn wo sie von uns gewesen wären, so wären sie ja ben uns geblieben; aber auf daß sie offenbar würden, daß sie nicht alle von uns sind.

20 Und ihr habt die Salbung von dem, der heilig ist, und wiffet alles.

10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake. 13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.

14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for

ever.

18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

21 Ich habe euch nicht geschrieben, als wüßtet ihr die Wahrheit nicht; sondern ihr wisset sie, und wisset, daß feine Lüge aus der Wahrheit kommt. 22 Wer ist ein Lügner, ohne der da leugnet, daß Jesus der Christ sen? Das ist der Widerchrist, der den Vater und den Sohn leugnet.

23 Wer den Sohn leugnet, der hat auch den Vater nicht.

24 Was ihr nun gehöret habt von Anfang, das bleibe bey euch. So bet cuch bleibet, was ihr von Anfang gehöret habt, so werdet ihr auch bey dem Sohne und Vater bleiben.

25 Und das ist die Verheißung, die Er uns verheißen hat, das ewige Leben.

26 Solches habe ich euch geschrieben von denen, die euch verführen.

27 Und die Salbung, die ihr von Ihm empfangen habt, bleibet bet euch, und dürfet nichr, daß euch Jemand lehre, sondern, wie euch die Salbung allerley lehret, so ist es wahr und ist keine Lüge; und wie ste euch gelehret hat, so bleibet bey demselbigen.

28 Und nun, Kindlein, bleibet beh Ihm; auf daß, wenn er geoffenbaret wird, daß wir Freudigkeit haben und nicht zu Schanden werden vor ihm in seiner Zukunft.

29 So ihr wisset, daß er gerecht ist; so erkennet auch, daß, wer recht thut, der ist von ihm geboren.

Das 3 Capitel. jehet, welch eine Liebe hat uns der Vater erzeiget, daß wir Gottes Kinder sollen heißen! Darum kennet euch die Welt nicht, denn sie fennet ihn nicht.

2 Meine Lieben, wir sind nun Gottes Kinder; und ist noch nicht erschienen, was wir seyn werden. Wir wif

21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.]

24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

28 And now, little children, abide in him; that when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
