ASSERTED FROM THE SACRED SCRIPTURES.
REV. CHARLES MASTERTOWN,
FORMERLY MINISTER OF THE THIRD PRESBYTERIAN CONGREGATION,
TO THE PUBLIC. The publication of any Work which tends to enlighten and instruct, that developes new ideas, and brings forward new and powerful arguments, upon a subject in which all are equally concerned, cannot but be acceptable to the generality of readers. With this conviction, the Publisher of the Christian's Family and Pocket Companion" begs to announce the republication of an invaluable little Work on the “ DOCTRINE OF THE HOLY TRINITY, ASSERTED FROM THE SACRED SCRIPTURES,” by the Rev. CHARLES MASTERTOWN, M. A. the first stated Minister in the house of the Third Presbyterian Congregation of this town. It made its appearance before the public early in the last century, and within a very short period went through four different editions. This, of itself, might be considered a sufficient criterion of its merit and utility. But it is also warmly recommended by several distinguished members of the Synod of Ulster; at whose suggestion, and a persuasion that it contains much valuable matter on the subject of which it treats, it is again reprinted. There is also another reason, the same which produced the publication of “the Companion," namely, the necessity of such Works being published, to suit the days in which we live ; to counteract the designs of those who would impugn the doctrine of the ever-blessed Trinity ; “to confirm the wavering in an adherence to the truth as it is in Jesus; to combat and overturn some most dangerous and destructive errors ; and to throw illustration and evidence around some of the most important truths of the gospel.”.
As it is intended as a companion to Kelburn's Sermons on the Divinity of Christ, it will be printed uniform with that Work, and at an equally moderate price.
Belfast, 20th November, 1821.
Price only 6ld.
