FAMILY PRAYERS. In the Morning or in the Evening, or both, gather as many of the members of the household together as possible. The devotion can begin with a Hymn. Then read a chapter, or a few verses, from the Scriptures; or, a Psalm may be read responsively. See pages 18-54. After this kneel down and offer the Prayers as follows: I.-The Lord's Prayer: UR Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy king OUR who will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil : For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. III.—After this, if there is time, use the Collect for the Sunday or Holy-day, and other Collects from the Prayer-book. And any of the Special Prayers on pages 95, 96. E thank Thee, O Lord, that we are permitted to see this Holy Day. gracious privileges. Bless all efforts put forth to-day to spread Thy truth. Be with the ministers and missionaries of the cross, and grant that they may faithfully preach the Gospel of Salvation. Remember all who are straying away from Thee, and all who, having opportunity to worship Thee, wilfully absent themselves from Thy house; Give them repentance and renew their faith. Be merciful to all who are sick and afflicted, and to all who by any infirmity are confined to their homes or to the wards of hospitals. Make this a day of mercy and blessing, a day of rest and of gladness. All this we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Sunday Evenings. Thy good LORD, our Heavenly Father, who hast brought us to the close of Holy ness to us, and forgive us wherein we have not made the best and wisest use of our time and opportunities. Ever forgive our sinfulness. May the good impressions made upon us this day always remain with us. would lie down in peace with all mankind and in favour with Thee, our God. May no evil befall us, but take us now and evermore under Thy watchful care and keeping, through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen. We Monday Mornings. LORD, be gracious to us this day. We know not what the day may us for our good. Make us diligent in our several occupations, and help us to do our appointed work faithfully and well. Remember in pity all those who are poor and homeless, and all who are in trouble of any kind. Cheer those who are discouraged, and bring back those who are going astray. ́Hear us, O Lord, for the sake of Thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen. M Monday Evenings. ERCIFUL Father, now that the day is over we offer Thee our evening sacrifice of prayer and thanksgiving. We bless Thee that Thou hast been so patient and good towards us, while we have been forgetful of Thee and of Thy laws. Forgive us the sins of this day, and grant us grace to live better lives in the future. Protect us through the night. May no evil come near us. Watch over us while we sleep and bring ns in peace and safety, if it be Thy will, to another day. Remember with Thy loving favour all who are near and dear to us, and grant to them what we ask for ourselves, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. WE Tuesday Mornings. E pray Thee, Blessed Lord, that amid all the perils and evil influences that may surround us this day, we may not forget Thee. Thou art the strength of the weak and the helper of those who are in trial. Grant us grace to stand upright. In all places and amongst all the people where our work and our duty shall call us to-day may we have Thy presence. Then shall we do that which is righteous in Thy sight and full of blessing to others. Prosper Thou our undertakings. May we begin nothing of which Thou shalt not approve, nor have any plans except those which are acceptable to Thee. Hear us, we humbly pray Thee, through Jesus Christ Thy Son. Amen. Tuesday Evenings. EAVENLY Father, Thy mercies and blessings are without number. HAll this day Thou hast been mindful of us who are so unworthy of the least of Thy favours. Forgive us that we are so sinful and that we offend Thee so often in word and thought and deed. Help us to fight against the sins that assail us. Cleanse us from all evil. And now we commit ourselves and all for whom we should pray to Thy tender care and keeping. From all evil and from every danger defend us. safe if Thou art our keeper. Grant us Thy peace through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. We are WE Wednesday Mornings. E thank Thee, Almighty God, for the mercy that brings us to this new day. Accept the offering of ourselves to Thee and to Thy service. Our bodies and souls and spirits are consecrated to Thee. Sanctify all their faculties, and forbid that in any way they should become the servants of sin. Guard us and guide us in all our undertakings. May the day be well spent. Let Thy will be the rule of our lives, and give us that which Thou seest to be the best for our welfare. All this we beg for our Saviour's sake. Amen. Wednesday Evenings. THOU who hearest prayer, hear our evening petitions. First of all accept our confession, that we are not worthy to call upon Thy holy Name. But the greatness of Thy mercy in Christ Jesus is more than our sins, and we know that Thou dost forgive all who are penitent and believing. Then, dear Lord, take us into Thy holy care and keeping this night, so that we may go to our rest in peace. We implore Thee also, to remember all who are near and dear to us, our relatives, friends, acquaintances, and neighbours. Bless our rulers, both temporal and spiritual, and hasten the day when all men shall know Thee from the least to the greatest, through Jesus Christ Thy Son. Amen. Thursday Mornings. LMIGHTY Father, we enter upon the duties of this day with trust A in Thee. May it please Thee to guide us in all our ways. Keep us from discontentment and from slothfulness. Make us diligent in our several callings, and help us to realize that we can serve Thee by doing well whatever Thou dost give us to do. So fill us with Thy grace that we may live this day as Thy true hearted children. Make us willing to do good to others as we shall have opportunity. May we add to the joy of others and not to their sorrows. Make us more and more like Him who went about doing good. Hear us for our Saviour's sake. Amen. Thursday Evenings. RACIOUS Lord, hear our prayers which we offer to Thee at G the close of another day. Forgive all that we have done wrong, the angry words, the irritable tempers, the discontented feelings. Forgive our want of trust in Thee, and all the anxious thoughts that so constantly rise up within us. We desire to leave our affairs in Thy hands, knowing that Thou carest for us. O Heavenly Father, watch over us and continually protect us and all for whom we would pray; may Thy love be our refuge in every hour of trial, and may Thy mercy bring us at last to Thyheavenly kingdom, through the merits and for the sake of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen. Friday Mornings. LORD Jesus Christ, Thou Son of God, who takest away the sin of the world, grant us Thy peace; and have mercy upon us. Keep us this day in the paths of purity and virtue. May we fight against sin whether in our own hearts or in the world about us. May we always remember that Thou didst suffer upon the cross to redeem us from sin and death. Help us to show forth our gratitude to Thee by living for Thee, and by following the footsteps of Thy blessed life, to the praise and glory of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen. Friday Evenings. LESSED Lord Jesus, Thou Son of the Highest, we kneel before Thee Bthis evening to acknowledge Thee as our Lord and Master, and to beseech Thee to keep us from every evil. We confess that we are sinful, and deserve none of Thy blessings, but we earnestly desire to become holier and more like Thee our Saviour. May we check every evil inclination, and root out every weed of sin. May our hearts be more filled with Thy love, and our lives more devoted to Thy service. May we always remember it is Thy will that we should glorify Thee and show forth Thy praise with our lips and in our lives. Bless us all this night, and all for whom we should pray, and to Thee, with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, be praises for ever and for ever. Amen. Saturday Mornings. B minds of Thy people, we pray Thee manifest Thy gracious presence LESSED Spirit, who dwellest in Thy Church and in the hearts and more and more fully in us. We need Thy help. Without Thee we can do nothing that is good, nothing that is holy. Lead us in the paths of purity and peace. Overcome the evil that is in us, and take from us the love of sinning. Make us holy and help us to lead holy lives, so that through grace and mercy we may at last dwell with Thy saints in glory everlasting. Hear us, O God the Holy Ghost, who art with the Father and the Son, one God blessed for evermore. Amen. Saturday Evenings. ETERNAL God, look down upon us Thy servants who desire now to praise Thee for Thy goodness to us during the past week. We thank Thee for every deliverance from danger or sickness, for every trouble Thou hast averted from us and our home, for every kindness we have received, for every pleasure Thou hast bestowed. All things come from Thee, and to Thee would we look up in gratitude. May all the sins of this week be blotted out of Thy book of remembrance. Forgive us that we are so evil. Take care of us this night, and bring us in peace and safety to the coming day if it be Thy will. We ask also that all whom we love may receive the blessings we ask for ourselves, through Jesus.
