W CHAP. VII. The leper cleanfed. multitudes followed him. a And, behold, there came a leper, and worshipped him, faying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 3 And Jesus put forth bis hand and touched him, faying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleanfed. 4 And Jefus faith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, Thew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Mofes commanded, for a teftimony unto theme goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. TO When Jesus heard it he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found fo great faith, wo, not in Ifrael. 11 And I tay unto you, That many shall come from the eaft and weft, and shaildit down with Abraham, and Ilaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven: 12 But the children of the king dom fhall be caft out into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 13 And Jesus said unto the cen turion, Go thy way; and as thou haft believed, fo be it done nato thee. And his fervant was healed in the self-fame hour. 14 And when Jesus was come into Peters house he saw his wife's mother laid, and fick of a fever. 15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and the arofe, and ministered unto them. 16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were poffefsed with devils: and he caft out the spirits with bis word, and healed all that were fick; The tempeft ftilled. 5. MATTHEW. Devils caft our 17 That it might be fulfilled thou come hither to torment us which was spokes by Efaias the before the time? prophet, saying, Rimself took our infirmities, and bare our ficknesses. 181 Now, when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other fide. 19 And a certain scribe came, and faid unto him, Master, I will tollow thee whitherfoever thou goest. 20 And Jefusfaith unto him, The Foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. 21 And another of his difciples faid unto him, Lord, fuffer me first to go and bury my father. 22 But Jesus faid unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bory their dead. 231 And when he was entered into a ship his disciples followed him. 24 And, behold, there arose a great tempeft in the fea, infomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was afleep. 25 And his difciples came to him, and awote him, faying, Lord, fave us: we perifh. 26 And he faith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arofe, and rebuked the winds and the fea; and there was a great calm. 27 But the men marvelled, fayIng, What manner of man is this, That even the winds and the fea obey nim! 30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many fwine feeding. 31 So the devils befought him, saying, If thou caft us out, fufferue to go away into the herd of fwine. 32 And he faid unto them, Go. And, when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine; and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the fea, and perished in the waters. 33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing; and what was befallen to the poffeffed of the devils. 34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and, when they saw him, they befought him that he would depart out of their coats. A CHAP. IX. Chrift cureth the palfy. ND he entered into a ship, and paffed over, and came into his own city. 2 And, behold, they brought to him a man fick of the pally, lying on a beds and Jeius, feeing their faith, faid unto the fick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer; thy fins be forgiven thee. And, behold, certain of the scribes faid within themselves, This man blafphemeth. 4 And, Jefus, knowing their thoughts, faid, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? 28 And when he was come to the other fide, into the country of the Gergefenes, there met him two poffeffed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, fo that no meu might pafs by that way. 29 And, behold, they cried out, aying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou San of God? art bed, and go unts thine house. 5 For whether is in eafierto say, Thy fins be forgiven thee; or to fay, Arife and walk? 6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive fins, (then faith he to the fick of the palfy,) Arife, take up thy nd Matthew called, &c. 7 And he arose, and to his house. CHAP. IX. The bloody issue bealed. departed put new wine into new bottles, and both are preferved 8 But when the multitude saw 18 While he spake these things it they marvelled, and glorified unto them, behold, there came a God, which had given fuch power certain ruler, and worshipped him, unto men. 9 And as Jefus passed forth from thence, he faw a man, named Matthew, fitting at the receipt of custom: and he faith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. 10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and finners came and fat down with him and his disciples. II And when the Pharifees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and finners? 12 But when Jesus heard that, he faid unto them, They that be whole need not a phyfician, but they that are fick. 13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not facrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but Inmers to repentance. 14 Then came to him the difciples of John, faying, Why do we and the Pharifees fast oft, but Pharifees f thy difciples faft not? 15 And Jefus taid unto them, Can the children of the bride-chamber mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom hall be taken from them, and then shall they faft. 16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment; for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. 17 Neither domen put new wine into old bottles; elfe the bottles break, and the wine renueth out, and the bottles perish; but they faying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. 19 And Jesus arofe and follow. ed him, and fo did his disciples. 201 (And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment. 21 For the faid within herself, If I may but touch his garment I shall be whole. 22 But Jefus turned him about; and, when he saw her, he faid, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.) 23 And when Jesus came into the rulers house, and faw the minstrels and the people making a noise, 24 He faid unto them, Give place; for the maid is not dead, but fleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. 25 But when the people were put forth he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arote 26 And the fame thereof went abroad into all that land. 271 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and faying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us. 28 And when he was cone into the house the blind men came to him: and Jetus faith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this. They faid unto him, Yea, Lord. 29 Then touched he their eyes, faying, According to your faith be it unto you. 30And their eyes were opened: and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. A dumb man healed. S. MATTHEW. The apostles inftrulled 31 But they, when they were 5 These twelve Jesus fent forth, and commanded them, faying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: departed, spread abroad his faine in all that country. 321 As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man poffeffed with a devil. 33 And when the devil was caft out the dumb spake; and the multitudes marvelled, faying, It was never fo feen in Ifrael. 34 But the Pharifees faid, He cafteth out the devils through the prince of the devils. 35 And Jefus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every fickness, and every disease, among the people. 36 But when he faw the multitudes he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as theep having no shepherd. 37 Then faith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few: 38 Pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that he will fend forth labourers into his harveft. CHAP. X. A The apostles fent out. ND when he had called unto bim his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to caft them out, and to heal all manner of fickness, and all manner of disease. 2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The firft, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the fon of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the peolican; James the fon of Aipheus, and Lebbeus, whofe furname was Thaddeus; 4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Ifcariot, who also betrayed him. 6 But go rather to the loft sheep of the house of Ifrael. 7 And, as yego, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8 Healthe fick, cleanfe the lepers, raise the dead, caft out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. 9 Provide neither gold, nor fil. ver, nor brass, in your puifes 10 Nor fcrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither thoes, nor yet ftaves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. 11 And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. 12 And when ye come into an house, nalute it. 13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that ho ufe or city shake off the duft of your feet. 15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment than for that city. 161 Behold, I fend you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye, therefore, wife as ferpents, and harmlefs as doves 17 But beware of men; for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their fynagogues: 18 And ye shall be brought before governers and kings for my fake, for a teftimony againft them and the Gentiles. 19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what The apostles comforted. CHAP. ye shall ipeak; for it shall be given you in that fame hour what ye shall fpeak. 20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. 21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shail rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. 22 And ye shall be hatod of all men for my names fake; but he that endureth to the end shall be faved. 23 But when they perfecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Ifrael till the Son of man be come. 24 The disciple is not above his mafter, nor the servant above his lord. 25 It is enough for the disciple that hebe as his mafter, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the mafter of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? 26 Fear them not, therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: aud what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the houfe-topa. 28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the foul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both foul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows fold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fearyenot, therefore, yeare of more value than many sparrows. X, XI. A blessing promised, &c. 32 Whosoever, therefore, shall confefs me before men, him will I confefs alfo before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whofoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. 34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to fend peace, but a fword. 35 For I am come to fet a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law againft her mother-in-law. 36And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. 37 He that loveth father or mo ther more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth fon or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his cross and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39 He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my fake shail find it. 40 He that receiveth you, receiveth me; and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that fent me. 41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, shall receive a righteous man's reward. 42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, He shall in no wife lose his reward.
