31 It hath been faid, Whofoever fhall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32 But I fay unto you, That whofoever fhall put away his wife, faving for the caufe of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whofoever hall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. 33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been faid by them of old time, Thou shalt not forfwear thyfelf, but fhalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34 But I fay unto you, Swear not at all: neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

TAKE heed that ye do not your

alms before men, to be seen of them; otherwife ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 Therefore, when thou doeft thine alms, do not found a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the fynagogues, and in the Areets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I fay unto you, They have their reward.

3 But when thon doeft alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth;

4 That thine alms may be in fecret: and thy Father, which feeth in fecret, himself fhall reward thee openly.

5 And when thou prayeft, thou fhalt not be as the hypocrites are; for they love to pray ftanding in the fynagogues, and in the corners

6 But thou, when thou prayeft, enter into thy closet and, when thou haft shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in fecret; and thy Father, which feeth in fecret, thall reward thee openly.

7 But when ye pray, ufe not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they fhall be heard for their much speaking.

8 Be not ye, therefore, like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of before ye ask him.

9 After this manner, therefore, pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven; Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread,

19 Lay not up for yourselves treafures upon earth, where moth: and ruft doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and fteal:

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be alfo.

22 The light of the body is the eye: if, therefore, thine eye be fingle, thy whole body fhall be full of light.

23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body fhall be full of darknefs. If, therefore, the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 1241 No man can ferve two mafters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or elfe he will hold to the one, and defpife the other. Ye cannot ferve God and mammon.

Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

14 For if ye forgive men their trefpaffes, your heavenly Father will alfo forgive you:

15 But if ye forgive not men their trefpaffes, neither will your Father forgive your trefpaffes.

16 Moreover, when ye faft, be not, as the hypocrites, of a fad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to faft. Verily fay unto you, They have their reward.

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they fow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

CHAP. VII. Ghrift's fermon ended. Udge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what meafure ye mete, it fhall be meatured to you again.

3 And why beholdeft thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but confidereft not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how will thoa fay to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

9 Or what man is there of you, whom, if his fon ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10 Or if he afk a fish, will he give him a ferpent?

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more fhall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

12 Therefore all things whatfoever ye would that men fhould do o you, do ye even fo to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
