reward; at other times he shews us plainly the difference between the most refined hypocrite and ourselves, when we can see that they are wrong in every thing they say, profess, or do; whereas, if we were wrong, we should not see this. And thus the young man cleanses his way, by taking heed thereto according to God's word, whereby we try others, and perceive that they are altogether out of the way.

This Comforter, Mary, has many things to do in us, nor will he ever leave us. nant of God made with Christ, Spirit should never depart from Christ, nor his seed, either in this world or in the world to come. And sure I am that where he convinces, convicts, searches and tries, enlightens and quickens, there he abides, with his blessed crop of graces, for evermore: and, though we may not always find peace, love, comfort, or joy, yet have we hope, light, and life; for, if we are not full, we feel hungry; and, if we have not Christ, there is nothing else that will suffice. And he must be our all when nothing besides him will do for us.
