CHAPTER VIII *.-PART I.

We are Born for Work, Others for a Watch:

Next we for a Watch And They for Our Work.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, O Lord my God, thou art very great, thou art clothed with honour and mercy. Ps. 104-1.-Thou coverest thyself with light, thou stretchest out the heavens like a curtain. Ps. 104-2.-Thou coveredst the earth with the deep, as with a garment. Ps. 104-6. Thou hast set a bound that they may not overpass, they turn not again to cover the earth. Ps. 101-9.-Thou sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills. Ps. 104-10.--Thou watereth the hills from thy chambers, the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works. Ps. 104-13.-Thou causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man; Ps. 104-14.-Thou appointed the moon for seasons, the sun knoweth his going down. Ps. 104-19-Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest forth do creep. Ps. 104-20.-The sun ariseth, they gather together, and lay them. down in their dens. Ps. 104-22.-Man goeth forth unto his work, and to labour until the evening. Ps. 104-23.

O Lord, how many fold are thy works, in wisdom hast thou made them all, and the world is full of thy riches. Ps. 104-24. So is this great and wild sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable. Ps. 10425.-There go the ships, there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein. Ps. 104-26.-These wait all on thee, that thou mayest give them their meat in due season. Ps. 104-27.-Thou givest them, they gather; thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good. Ps. 104-28. -Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; thou takest away their breath they die, and return to their dust. Ps. 104-29.-Then shall the dust return to the earth, as it was; and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. Ecc. 12-7.-Thou dost open thine eyes to such an one, thou callest him into judgment with thee. Job 14-3-Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth; thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away. Job 14-20.-Thou sendest forth *My God bless David ;-For I write here for the Word of God, "Psalm 104."-Lord Saviour,

thy spirit, they are created; and thus thou renewest the face of the earth. Ps. 104-30. His sons come to honour, but he knoweth it not, they are brought low but he perceiveth it not. Job 14-21-Thus the glory of the Lord shall endure for ever, the Lord shall rejoice in his works. Ps. 104-31.

CHAPTER IX-PART II.

In Trouble Men the Gods Invoke, When Sick Submit to Virtue's Yoke-Gri.

Thou shalt love thy God with all thy heart; with all thy soul and mind and with all thy strength; this is the first commandment. Mark 12-30.-Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. Deut 5-11.-For God is the Spirit; and they that worship him, must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4-24-And if thou seek him, he will be found of thee, but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. I Chron. 28-9.

O, come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. Ps. 95.6.-O God, thou art my God, so early will I seek thee. Ps. 63-1.-As thy loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee, Ps. 63-3.-0 Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. Ps. 51-15.-As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me, Ps. 55-16.-My heart is fixed O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give thy praise. Ps. 57-7.— Hear unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God; for unto thee will I pray. Ps. 5-2.-My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord, in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. Ps. 5-3.—I will praise thee, () Lord, among the people; I will sing unto thee among the nations. Ps. 57-9,-For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. Ps. 57-10-I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. Ps. 22-22,-I will stretch forth my hands unto thee, my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Ps. 143-6.-Seven times a day do I praise thee, because of thy righteous judgments. Ps. 119-164 -evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud; and he shall hear my voice. Ps. 55-17.-Let my prayer be set before thee as

incense, and the lifting up of my hand as the evening sacrifice. Ps. 141-2-Thus my mouth shall speak praise of the Lord, and let all bless thy holy name for ever. Ps. 145-21.

God sendeth and giveth both mouth and the meat.

God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause thy face to shine on us. Ps. 67-1.-Let thy way be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. Ps. 67-2.- O Lord, thy mercy is in the heavens, thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds, Ps. 36-5.-Thy righteousness is like the great mountains, thy judgments are a great deep, O Lord, thou preservest man and beast. Ps. 36-6.-Let them exalt him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders. Ps. 107-32.

Let the people praise thee, O God, let all the people praise thee, Ps. 67-5.-Then the earth shall yield her increase, and God, even our God shall bless us. Ps. 67-6.—Thou visitest the earth and waterest it ; Thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it. Ps, 65-9 -The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them meat in due season. Ps. 145-15.-Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. Ps. 145 16.

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken; nor his seed begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. Ps. 37-25, 26. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifted the needy out of the dunghill. Ps. 113-7 -That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of the people. Ps. 113-8.-He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. Ps. 147-3.-He covereth the heaven with clouds, he prepareth rain for the earth, he maketh the grass to grow on tho mountains. Ps. 147-8.-He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry. Ps. 147-9.-He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into water springs. Ps. 107-35.-And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation. Ps. 107-36.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. Ps. 68-19.-Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the loving kindness

of the Lord. Ps 107.43

God never made his work for man to mend.

The heavens declare thy glory O Lord! and the firmament sheweth thy handywork. Ps. 19-1.-Yea, the heavens declare thy righteousness, and all the people see thy glory. Ps. 97-6-Thou art high abov~ all the earth, thou art exalted above all the gods. Ps. 97-9,-For as much as there is none like unto thee, O Lord! thou art great, and thy name is great in might-Jer. 10-6-0 Lord! how excellent is thy name in all the earth, thou hast set thy glory above the heavens. Ps. 8-1,-Thy righteousness, O God! is very high; O God! who is like unto thee, who has done great things. Ps. 71-19.

Be thou exalted, O God! above the heavens, and thy glory above all the earth. Ps. 10-5,-Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength; so will we sing and praise thy power. Ps, 21-13-Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge. Ps. 19-2-There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Ps. 19-3.-O Lord! Thine is the greatness, power and glory! All that is in heaven and earth is thine. O Lord! Thine is the kingdom, and thou art exalted as head above all. I Chro. 29-11.--O Lord! Thou reignest over all, riches and honour come of thee! In thine hand is power and might, and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength. I Chro. 29-12.

I will extol thee, my God, O King, and I will bless thy name for ever. Ps. 145-1.-Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. Ps. 145-13.-Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Ps. 29-2.-Glory ye in his holy name, let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Ps 105-3,-Blessed be his holy name for ever; and let the whole world be filled with his glory. Amen, and Amen. Ps. 72-19.

Some go to Church for some talk, a few for the Love of God.

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. Ps. 27-1.—I will come into thy house; and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. Ps. 5-7.-There will I offer in thy tabernacle sacrifices of joy, I will sing, yea, I will sing, praises unto the Lord. Ps. 27-5.-For the zeal of thing house hath eaten me up. Ps. 6 -9.

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy loving kindness and for thy truth. Ps. 138-2.-For my soul thirsteth for God, for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God. Ps. 42-2,-My soul longeth for the courts of the Lord; and my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. Ps. 84-2.-For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. Ps. 84-10.—And I will go unto the altar of God unto god my exceeding joy. Ps. 43-4.-0 send out thy light and thy truth, and let them lead me unto thy tabernacles.

Ps. 43-3.

O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. Ps. 95-6.-For honour and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctury. Ps. 96-8.-Thy way, O God! is in the Sanctuary; who is so great a God as our Lord? Ps, 77-13.—— -And they have seen thy goings, O God! even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary. Ps. 68-24.

Lord, I have loved the

habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth. Ps. 26-8-I will abide in thy tabernacle I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah. Ps. 61-4.

for ever;

We will go into his tabernacles; we will worship at his footstool; Ps. 132-7-Blessed are they that dwell in thy house; they will be still praising thee. Selah. Ps. 84-4.

God comes with leaden feet, but strikes with iron hands.

Sing unto God, sing praise to his name; extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name Jah, and rejoice before him. Ps. 68.4.-A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. Ps. 68-5-The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. Ps. A.103-19.-Thy throne is established of old; thou art from everlasting. Ps. 93-2.-Thy testimonies are very sure; holiness becometh thine house, O Lord; for ever. Ps 93-5--Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. Ps. 145-13.

The Lord shall judge the people; Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end but establish the just. Ps. 7-8-9.-Thou hast done wonderful things thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. Isa. 25-1.-When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth
