Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble, thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear Ps, 10-17.-To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress. Ps. 10-18.-With merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright. Ps. 18-25.-With pure thou wilt shew thyself pure and with forward thou wilt shew thyself forward. Ps. 18-26,-For thou wilt save the afflicted people, but wilt bring down high looks Ps. 18-27.

Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly, but the proud he knoweth afar off. Ps. 138-6.-The foolish shall not stand in thy sight; thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Ps. 5-5.-Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out; he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice he will not afflict, Job 37-23.- Who is wise he shall understand these; pruden t he shall know them, for the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them. Hos. 14-9.-0 the depth of riches both of wisdom, and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! Rom. 11-33.--And who hath known the mind of the Lord ? or who hath been his counsellor ? Rom. 11–34. -For unto him and through him are all things, to whom be glory for ever. Amen. Rom. 11-36,

CHAPTER IV-PART I.

SERVE THY GOD WITH THE SWEAT OF THY SOUL-Luke 22-44

O thou that hearest pra yer, unto thee shall all flesh come. Ps. 65-2. -Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth; when the evil days come, thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them. Ecc. 12-1.Seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near. Isa. 55-6.-Fear the Lord thy God, him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave. Deut. 10-20.-Turn thou to thy God, keep mercy and judg ment, and wait on thy God continually. Hos. 12-6.-Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart. Ps. 27.14.Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the Land. Ps. 37-34.

Exalt ye the Lord, and worship at his footstool, for he is holy. Ps. 99-5.—Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. Math. 26-41. Continue in prayer and watch in the same with thanksgiving. Col. 4-2. Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face evermore. Ps. 105-4-Glory in his holy name, let their heart rejoice that seek the Lord. Ps. 105-3.

Thou shalt seek the Lord, thy God; thou shalt find him if thou seek him, with all thy heart and soul. Deut 4-29.-Ye shall seek me and find me, if ye shall search for me with all your heart, Jer. 29-13.-When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek. Ps. 27-8.

Thou shalt serve the Lord thy God; and he shall bless thy bread and water; and he will take the sickness from the midst of thee. Ex. 23-25.-For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved. Rom. 10-13.—And they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary. Isa. 40-31.-For they know not, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. Isa 64-4.-Let those that seek thee rejoice; and be glad in thee; and say continually, Let God be magnified. Ps. 70-4

CHAPTER V.-PART I

CAST THY CARE ON GOD, WHO ANCHOR HOLDS

Trust in the Lord for ever; for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. Isa. 26-4.-Trust in him at all times; pour out your heart before him, God is a refuge for us, Ps. 62-8.--Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Ps. 37-3.-Delight thyself in the Lord and he shall give thee the desire of thine heart. Ps. 37-4,-Commit thy way unto the Lord, trust in him and he shall bring it to pass. Ps. 37-5.-Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee. Ps. 55-22,-And thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, because he trusteth in thee. Isa. 26-3.

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. Ps. 56-3.-For the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song. Isa 12-2-I have set my Lord

always before me; he is at my right hand; I shall not be moved. Ps. 16-8- Thou art my hope, O God, thou art my trust from my youth, Ps. 71-5,-I was cast upon thee from the womb; thou art my God from my mother's belly. Ps. 22-10.-And thou art he that took me out of the womb; thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breast. Ps. 22-9-Cast me not in the time of old age, forsake me not when my strength faileth. Ps. 71-9.-Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me in the shadow of thy wings. Ps, 17-8.-For into thy hand I commit my spirit, thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth. Ps. 31-5.-Thou art my rock and my fortress, therefore for thy names sake lead me and guide me. Ps. 31-3.

My soul, wait thou only upon God for my expectation is from him. Ps. 62-6. He is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be moved. Ps. 62-7.

O, taste and see, that the Lord is good, blessed is the man that trasteth in him. Ps. 34-8-And they that know thy name will put trust thee, for thou hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Ps. 9-10.-For the Lord is the sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory and no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Ps. 84-11. Let our heart rejoice in him, for we have trusted in his holy name. Ps. 33-21-And let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us according as we hope in thee. Ps. 33-22.

O Gol! how excellent is thy loving kindness, therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. Ps 36-7.-0 continue thy loving kindness unto them that know thee and thy righteousness to the upright in heart. Ps. 36-10-Blessed is the man that trusbeth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. Jer. 17-7.-And happy is he that hath God for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God. Ps. 146-5.

CHAPTER VI-PART I.

There is Undoubted a God. Who sees and hears all.

The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in the heaven, his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. Ps. 11-4.He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

Ps. 33-15.-He ruleth by his powers for ever; his eyes behold all nations. Ps. 66-7.-There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. Job 34-22.-For his eyes. are upon their ways, and he seeth all their goings. Job 34-21.-Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his slight, but all things are opened unto his eyes. Heb. 4-13.-For the eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. Pro. 15-3.-The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers. I Pet. 3-12.-Hell and destruction are before the Lord, how much more then the hearts of the children of men ? Pro. 15-11.

Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off? Jer. 23-23.-Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? Jer. 23-24.-I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give everyman according to the fruit of his doings. Jer. 17-10.Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down. Amos 9-2. David Praiseth God All-seeing Providence.

O, Lord! thou hast searched me and known me, Ps. 139-1.Thou knowest my down sitting, and mine uprising; thou understandest my thought afar off. Ps. 139-2.-Thou compassest my path, and art acquainted with all my ways. Ps. 139-3.-For there is not a word in my tongue, but lo, thou knowest it altogether. Ps. 139-4Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? Ps. 139 7.-If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there, if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. Ps. 139-8.-If I say, surely, darkness shall be light about me, even night shall be light about me, Ps. 139-11.-Yea, darkness hideth not from thee, but the night shineth as the day. Ps. 139-12.-Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts. Ps. 139-23. --And see if there be any wicked way in me, lead me in the way everlasting. Ps. 139-24.

CHAPTER VII-PART I.

A Conscience Without God is a Tribunal Without a Judge.

Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in his awe. Ps. 33-8.-For the fear of the Lord is the

beginning of wisdom, a good understanding have they that do his commandments. Ps. 111-10.-Also the fear of the Lord is the fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. Pro. 14-27.-As the heaven is high above, so is his mercy towards them that fear him. P3. 103 11. -As a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. Ps. 103-13.—In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence, and his children shall have a place of refuge. Pro. 14-26.

The fear of the Lord tendeth to life; and he that had it shall abide satisfied. Pro. 19-23.--For he will fulfil the desire of them that fear him, he will hear their cry, and save them. Ps. 145-19,-Also the Angel of the Lord will encamp them that fear him, and will deliver them. Ps. 34-7.

O fear the Lord, ye his saints; for there is no want to them that fear him. Ps. 34-9.-Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy. Ps. 33-18.-Tɔ deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine Ps. 33.19.-For the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to cverlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children, Ps. 103-17.To such as keep his covenant, and to those who remember his com mandments to do them. Ps. 103-18 Also, the Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as are of a contrite spirit. Ps. 34-18. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. Ps. 31-19—.

He will bless them that fear the Lord, both small and great. Ps. 115-13.-Yea, they are blessed of the Lord who made heaven and earth. Ps. 115-15.-And the blessing of the Lord maketh them rich and he added no sorrow with it, Pro. 10-22.

Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord, and who walketh in his ways. Ps. 128-1 -For thou shalt eat the labours of thine hands, happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. Ps. 128-2.-Thy wife children like olive plants. Ps. 128-3.

shall be as a fruitful vine, and thy -Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed who feareth the Lord. Ps. 128-4.
