CHAPTER XXI.

Hope Makes Kings Gods and Meaner Creatures Kings. Sh.

It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord. Lam. 3-26.-For if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Rom. 8-25.-My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations. Jas. 1-2.-Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. Jas. 1-3.-But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. Jas. 1-4. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? I Pet. 3-13-And if ye suffer for righteousness sake, happy are ye. And be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled. I Pet. 3-14.-But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to answer every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear. I Pet, 3-15.— For they that sleep sleep in the night (to be turned to ghosts), and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. I Thes. 5-7.-Therefore let us not sleep, as do others, but let us watch and be sober. I Thes. 5-6. -And let us, who are of the day, put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. I Thes, 5-8.-For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. I Thes. 5-9.-Wherefore, Gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ I Pet. 1-13.-As he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation. I Pet. 1-15.—And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end. Heb. 6-11.-That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Heb. 6-12.

The righteous hath hope in his death, but the wicked is driven away in wickedness. Pro. 14-32.-The hypocrites hope shall perish, whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web. Job. 8-13, 14.-He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand, he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure. Job 8-15-The

yes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost. Job 11-20.

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye tha hope in the Lord. Ps. 31-24.-And in returning and rest shall ye be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength. Isa. 30-15.Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. Jer. 17-7.--Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God. Ps. 146-5.-Therefore brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. 2 Thes. 2-15,-Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God even, our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace. 2 Thes. 2.16.-Comfort your hearts, and establish in every good word and work. 2 Thes. 2-17.

CHAPTER XXII.

You have Eternity to Rejoice in the Sacrifice of Your Desire.

Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever. A sceptre of equity is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Ps. 45-6.-And the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord. He is their stronghold in the time of trouble. Ps. 37-39- And many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, in the kingdom of heaven (the Uranus). Math. 8-11.

Did God cast off his people? God forbid. Rom. 11-1.-God did not cast off his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the Scripture saith of Elijah? Rom. 11-2.-Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars, and I am left alone and they seek my life. Rom. 11-3.--But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, (up to the end of mankind). Rom. 11-4.--For many are called, but few are chosen. Math. 22-14.The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few. Math. 9-37. The husbandman that laboureth must be the first partaker of the fruits. 2 Tim. 2-6.-And no man having put his hand to the plough and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9-62.-Ask, it shall be given unto you, seek, and ye shall

find, knock and it shall be opened unto you. Math. 7-7.-Enter ye in at the straight gate, for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat. Math. 7-13.-Because straight is the gate and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life (eternal), and few there be that find it. Math. 7-14.

Except a man be born again (till he comes to perfection), he cannot enter into the kingdom of God, John. 3-3.-Marvel not that I said unto thee, "Ye must be born again" (till ye are the friends of God). John, 3-7.-Except a man be born of water (of Adam), and of the Spirit (of God), he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. John. 3-5.-That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. John. 3-6.

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 1 Cor. 9-24.Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? 1 Cor. 6-9.-He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death, Rev. 2-11.--Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? Jas. 2-5.

Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Math. 18-3.— It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a man to enter into the kingdom of God. Math. 19-24--Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven, Math 5-20.-If thou doest not well shalt thou not be accepted? If thou doest not well sin lieth at the door. Gen. 4-7.-God is not respecter of persons, But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. Acts 10-34, 35--And eye hath not seen, nor heard, neither have entered into the hearts of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him, I Cor. 2-9.-Blessed is the man that endureth temptation, for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him, Jas, 1-12.-Cf. Heb. 1-14.

CHAPTER.-XXIII.

For thy views turn to divine books Jc

Where withal shall a young man cleanse his way by taking heed thereto according to thy word. Ps. 119-9.-Search the scriptures, for in them ye have eternal life. John 5-39. And cease my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge. Ps. 19-27.-Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field, and afterwards build thine house. Ps. 24-27.

Whatever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Rom. 15-4.-The secret things belong unto the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of the scripture. Deut. 29-29.—And all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. 2 Tim. 3-16,-That the man of God may be perfect. thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Tim. 3-17.

For God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit, for the Spirit search eth all things, yea, the deep things of God. I Cor. 2-10.-Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God. I Cor. 2-12.--Which things also we speak, not in words which man's wisdom teacheth, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. I Cor. 2-13.-But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them, because they are spiritually concerned. I Cor. 2-14. --Then seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read, no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate, for my mouth it hath recommended and his Spirit it hath gathered them. Isa, 34-16.--And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it into them by line, they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein. Isa. 34-17.

Do not err, my beloved brethren, every good gift, and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Jas. 1-16, 17.

40 LIGHT ANOTHER'S CANDLE BUT DON'T PUT OUT THINE OWN.

-Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures. Jas. 1-18.-That ye should walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. I Thes. 2.12.-For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. I Thes. 2-13-Brethren, now if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him, Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. Jas. 5-19-20.

CHAPTER.-XXIV.

Light another's candle but don't put out thine own.

For by that sin fell the foremost angel.

Light is sown for the righteous (for purity of blood), and gladness for the upright in heart. Ps. 97-11.-Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. Luke 11-35. For the light of the righteous rejoiceth, but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. Pro. 13-9.-Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine, Job. 18-5.-Light shall be dark in his tarnacle, and his candle shall be put out with him- Job. 18-6.

Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked. Ps. 24-19-For there shall be no reward to the evil man, the candle of the wicked shall be put out. Ps. 24-20.-For there is a spirit in man and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them (the righteous) understanding. Job. 32-8.-Then quench not thy spirit (for licentiousness). I Thes. 5-19.-For from the wicked their light is withdrawn, and the high arm shall be broken. Job. 38-15.

Then be renewed in the spirit of your mind. Eph. 4-23.-And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Eph. 4-24-Walk in the spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Gal. 5-16.-For the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, etc. Gal, 5-19.-But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
