meritorious death upon the cross, hast dissolved the death of sin, whereto the whole race of mankind had succeeded; Grant that we being made conformable to his death by faith and patience, as by necessity we have borne the image of the earthly nature, so by sanctification we may also bear the image of thy heavenly grace, and so pass into that glory which thou hast prepared for all thy faithful ones that follow his steps; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE THANKSGIVINGS.

It is good to give thanks unto the Lord :
And to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High.
To shew forth thy loving kindness in the
morning;

And thy faithfulness every night.

Praised be the Lord daily;

Who redeemeth our life from destruction;
Let them give thanks whom the Lord hath
redeemed. Amen.

LET

Concluding Prayer.

ET thy merciful ears, O Lord, be open to the prayers of thy humble servants; and that they may obtain their petitions, make them to ask such things as shall please thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Benedictory Prayer.

GOD the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost, have mercy upon us, save us now and evermore. Amen.

SATURDAY.

THE DAY ON WHICH CHRIST OUR SAVIOUR LAY IN THE GRAVE FOR US-WITH WHOM WE ARE BURIED BY BAPTISM INTO HIS DEATH.

Morning Prayer.

At the beginning of Morning Prayer, the Master of the Family may read the following Sentences, unless there are any proper for the Day.

LIKEWISE reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin; but alive unto God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Rom. vi. 9.)

We are buried with him by Baptism into death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (ver. 4.)

AND as for us, who have by Baptism put on

Christ, it is our part and duty also, being the children of God and of the light, by faith in Jesus Christ, to walk answerably to our Christian calling, and as becometh the children of light; remembering always that Baptism representeth unto us our profession; which is, to follow the example of our Saviour Christ, and to be made like unto him; that as he died, and rose again for us; so should we, who are baptized, die from sin, and rise again unto righteousness; continually mortifying all our evil and corrupt affections, and daily proceeding in all virtue and godliness of living.

Then the General Confession, to be said by the whole
Family, kneeling.

ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father, we have

erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.

We

We have offended against thy holy laws. have left undone those things which we ought to have done ; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou them, O God, which confess their faults. Restore thou them that are penitent; According to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesu our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake; That we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, To the glory of thy holy Name. Amen.

For Pardon.

LORD, we beseech thee favourably to hear the prayers of thy people; that we, who are justly punished for our offences, may be mercifully delivered by thy goodness, for the glory of thy Name; through Jesus Christ our Saviour, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

OUR

Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Then the Lord's Prayer, to be said by all.

UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will

be done in earth, As it is in heaven.

day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil : For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever.

us.

Then may be said,

O Thou, who as on this day didst rest from thy labours;

O Thou, who didst rest in the silent grave,
Thy peace be upon us.

¶ Then all standing up.

Psalm xcv. 1, 7.

n Psalms appropriate to the Day: Ps. xvi. xxiii. xxx. xxxix. xlii. lxv. xc. cxlvi.

Be ye sure that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

O go your way into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise be thankful unto him, and speak good of his Name.

:

For the Lord is gracious, his mercy is everlasting and his truth endureth from generation to generation.

:

Glory be, &c. As it was, &c.

Then the Apostles' Creed, except when the Nicene or
Athanasian Creed are said.

BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church; the Communion of Saints; the forgiveness of sins; the Resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Afterwards all kneeling, the following Prayers; the
Master first saying,

The Lord be with you.

And with thy spirit.

Let us pray

For Christ's Holy Catholic Church, for the Queen
