I wish thee to read the 2nd and 3rd chapters in that little book, "Guide to true Peace," and let it have its due weight on thy mind.

Dear Friend, the saying of the Psalmist comes freely to my mind: "Thou, Lord, wilt not forsake them that seek Thee." Then surely, if He does not forsake, and thou longest for his holy aid, there is an agreement; then no danger, whilst this is the case, of falling. I had rather we should be tried, than have any thing remaining which would mar the work of purification.

I was struck with admiration on entering your room last evening, and finding you collected together, seeking for a little of that consolation, the increase of which is better than corn, wine, or oil; and I believe it was sensibly felt, that a measure of it was afforded to the exercised amongst you, I wish you may be able to thank

and praise Him, who inclines your minds; and that you may take courage to hold on in the good practice of thus gathering together, to seek for this help, which will enable you to go in and out before your children, and those about you, in that fear and circumspection, which will confirm to them that there is something in religion more than form; exciting them to follow you, as ye follow Christ, in meekness and fear.
