The participial Form of this Verb iş often joined to the neuter Verb, when it refers to the mere Circumstance or Event of Going: as, "He is juft gone; He has been gone fome Time." The fame Thing may be observed of the Verb, To Come.

This fhews that Let is not a Sign of the Imperative Mode, but a real Verb, occafionally ufed in all Modes and Tenfes, joined to fome other Verb in the infinitive Mode, either expreffed or understood: as, "You will let me do it, I might have let him go.'

Let, fignifying to let down &c. may have a paffive Participle: as, "I was let down in a Bafket."
