These two laft defective Verbs are used only as above, and always joined to another Verb expreffed or underftood in the infinitive Mode: as, "I durft have done it. I dare fay. Some would even dare to die. I ought to love you. I ought to have gone thither."

DARE (to provoke) is regular. WOT (to know) and QUOTH (to fay) are very defective.
