It is believed that the present MANUAL OF SUNDAYSCHOOL ADDRESSES will go far to supply a want long felt in Sunday-schools and other departments of the Christian Church. And it was the knowledge of this want, expressed by many worthy labourers in the Lord's vineyard, which has chiefly led to the undertaking of the present task. Touching as these discourses do upon the leading verities of the Christian religion, it may be safely said that no collection on so comprehensive a base has as yet been offered for general use. Care has been exercised to ensure the unsectarian nature of the contents, while vexed questions, apt to give rise to controversy or debate, have been rigidly excluded. The writers for there are many-are experienced Sundayschool workers, and each has naturally followed his or her own style and method; hence the very noticeable variety evident throughout-a feature which is held. to constitute a distinct advantage in a work with such aims and objects as the present.
