134. Pilate sends Jesus to Herod. L. 23. WHEN Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whe- A. D. 33. 6, 7 ther the man were a Galilæan. And as soon as

he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself 8 also was at Jerusalem at that time. And when

Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad : for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by 9 him. Then he questioned with him in many 10 words; but he answered him nothing. And the

When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he
brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judg-

ment seat in a place that is called the Pave14 ment, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. And it

was the preparation of the passover, and about
