Annual 1941: p. 75, Rantoul, snowfall, 16.8. While this month was not so cold as February 1941, it was one of the five coldest Februaries since 1923. Sub-normal temperatures occurred on the 1-3d, including sub-zero readings in a few northern localities. A period of comparatively mild weather characterized much of the period from the 4th to 16th in most areas, with daily mean temperatures ranging from 12° to 18° above normal on the 4th to 6th. A reaction to colder occurred between the 17th and 21st, resulting in the lowest temperatures of the month; however, sub-zero readings were restricted to northern areas and were not extremely low or of long duration. There was a high average of monthly cloudiness and the percentage of possible sunshine for the month ranged from 12% below the normal at Springfield to 17% below at Chicago, 19% below at Cairo, and 20% below at Peoria.
