MANY of those who have kindly prefixed their names to the present series of Discourses, suggested to the author the plan of publishing them by subscription, after his little volume had been sent to the press; and to be thus encouraged by so numerous and respectable a portion of his hearers could not but gratify him highly. While then, he would express his cordial thanks to all who have lent him their names or influence on this occasion, he would further pray that his attempt to illustrate scriptural truths may not only meet with their continued approbation, but that the truths themselves may be deeply engraven on their hearts, and uniformly evidenced in their lives.
