2 Now let thy saving mercy heal The wounds it made before; Now on our hearts impress thy seal, That we may doubt no more.
3 Complete the work thou hast begun, And make our darkness light, That we a glorious race may run, Till faith be lost in sight.
4 Then as our wond'ring eyes discern The Lord's unclouded face; In fitter language we shall learn To sing triumphant grace.
1 O HELP us, Lord, in all our need, Thy heav'nly succour give;
Help us in thought, in word, and deed, Through ev'ry hour to live.
2 Thy strength and comfort, Lord, impart, When gloomy doubt prevails; When fear and sorrow wound the heart, And trembling nature fails.
3 Help us with humble faith to pray, With holy joy to praise,
And walking in thy perfect way, To serve thee all our days.
4 In all temptations, Lord, be nigh, To whom for help we flee,
And oh! support us when we die, O then take our souls to thee.
1 COME, ye sinners, poor and wretched, Weak and wounded, sick and sore,
Jesus ready stands to save you, Full of pity, love, and pow'r;
He is willing, doubt no more. 2 Come, ye sinners, ye are welcome, God's free bounty glorify; True belief and true repentance, Every grace that brings us nigh, Without money,
Come to Jesus Christ and buy. 3 Lo! th' incarnate God, ascended, Pleads the merits of his blood:- Venture on him, venture wholly, Let no other trust intrude; None but Jesus
Can do helpless sinners good.
4 Saints and angels, join'd in concert, Sing the praises of the Lamb, While the blissful seats of heav'n, Sweetly echo with his name, Hallelujah!
Sinners here may sing the same.
1 OH why should Israel's sons, once blest, Still roam the scorning world around; Disown'd of heav'n, by man opprest, Outcasts from Zion's hallow'd ground! 2 Oh God of Israel, rend in twain The veil which hides their Shiloh's light; The sever'd olive branch again
To its own parent stock unite.
3 While Judah views his birthright gone, With contrite shame his bosom move, The Saviour he denied, to own; The Lord he crucified, to love.
4 Haste, glorious day, expected long, When Jew and Greek, one prayer shall raise ; With eager feet, one temple throng; One God, with mutual rapture praise!
170 Matthew xxviii, 17—20. (c. M.)
1 ALL that supplies our daily need, Thy hands, O Lord, bestow : The means of grace, the hope of heav'n, From thee alone must flow.
2 Thou hast ordain'd the ministers, Who bring us heav'nly food,
That they may keep the chosen flock, Bought with thy precious blood.
3 Oh may thy love constrain their hearts; Let needful strength be giv'n;
Fill them with zeal and wisdom here, And crown their work in heav'n.
Galatians vi, 2. (L. M.)
1 OUR souls shall magnify the Lord, In him our spirit shall rejoice; Assembled here with one accord,
Our hearts shall praise him with our voice. 2 God of our hope, to thee we bow; Thou art our refuge in distress; The husband of the widow thou, The father of the fatherless
3 May we the law of love fulfil, Lighten each other's burthens here; Suffer and do thy righteous will, And walk in all thy faith and fear. 4 Then grant our union, here begun, May last for ever, firm and free; Around thy throne may we be one, One with each other and with thee.
Colossians i, 12-14. (c. M.)
1 FATHER of mercies! let our songs With thee acceptance find;
Thy loving kindness we confess, To us and all mankind.
2 Thanks for creation, are thy due, For life preserv'd by thee; For all the blessings life affords, So great, and yet so free!
3 Thanks for redemption above all, To us in Jesus giv'n;
Thanks for the means of grace on earth, And for the hope of heav'n.
4 O let a sense of this thy grace, Our best affections move;
That while our lips thy praise proclaim, Our hearts may feel thy love.
1 IN sacred songs, your voices raise, To sing the great Redeemer's praise; Yet who, but saints, in heav'n above, Can tell the riches of his love!
2 That love in gentle accents shed A blessing upon childhood's head; Bade e'en the young to hope for grace, And seek the glories of his face.
3 Blest Shepherd of the sheep! he leads The wand'rers, and the hungry feeds; Deigns in his arms the young to bear, And makes them his peculiar care.
