is become my salvation." God sees His people holy and pure in the righteousness of our blessed Saviour. We are made heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ Jesus, and when He shall appear we shall also appear with Him in glory.

Sept. 1.-Rose at half-past five. "Fear not, little flock, it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." O the depth of sin and rebellion, and corruption, and pride that rises up from my natural heart! "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." Make me to shew forth Thy praise.

Amen.

2.-Rose about five. Oh! Lord, what is man, that Thou art mindful of him? Oh, but through and in Christ His people are perfect; although in myself I am vile and a mass of corruption, but in Him I am altogether lovely, a part of His church. Unto us, O Lord, belong confusion of face and sorrow of mind, but unto Thee belong mercies and forgiveness.

3.-Rose before six. Felt some clouds between me and my God. Saw my own vileness, but was enabled by grace to look at Christ to cover me, and His blood to wash me from all my sins. "May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer." 4.-Rose about seven. Oh! what blessed and sure promises have we in and through Christ. His people, who trust in Him, shall have eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any one pluck them out of His hand. If we try to do good in our own strength we are sure to do evil.

5.-Rose about six. Oh! what mercies does our Lord bestow upon us poor unworthy creatures: He helpeth me in what I have to do. O may it all be unto His eternal praise and glory through Jesus Christ.

Amen. To whom with the blessed Father, and the Holy Spirit, it doth indeed belong.

6. Rose at five. Oh! what marvellous love hath my God shewn to me (an unworthy worm) in drawing me so early to the knowledge of Himself; and I am persuaded and believe that that which I have through His grace committed to His charge, He will keep unto the end. "I the Lord change not, therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed."

7.-Rose a quarter to six. Whom have I in heaven but Thee? and on earth what have I to be compared with Thee? How beautiful are Thy works, O Lord! in wisdom hast Thou made them all. "The heavens are the works of Thy hands: they shall perish, but Thou remainest." Oh! may we seek these durable blessings.

8.-Rose about six. "The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in goodness and mercy. As a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him." Went to the Spa: heard Papa talk about the everlasting love of God to His church. He changeth not, therefore He will love them to the end.

9.-Rose before six. My strength and my heart faileth; but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. Alas! to-day I rather gave way to pride and lost my temper, and I did not find the same peace and alacrity in my business after it until I prayed to my Father, who granted me help and peace in believing.

10.-Rose about half-past five. Felt love to my God for His goodness to me. Bless the Lord, O my soul, for all His mercies: He giveth me health and grace to perform my various occupations. But above all, blessed be His name for giving me His Son, His dear Son, to die for me, a poor unworthy sinner. Amen.

11.-Rose at a quarter to seven.

Alas! how sad is

our state by nature; even now when my dear Father bestows on me so many temporal blessings for my good, when I ask him, how, alas! I begin to love them and to think about them instead of Him the giver. "O my God, draw my heart to Thee; purge me with hyssop and I shall be clean; make me shew forth Thy praises in my body and spirit which are Thine.”

12.-Rose at half-past five. "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me." O! but what a change is there in the Christian now. Though we were once darkness, now are we light in the Lord. Of Thy righteousness, and of Thy righteousness only, will I make mention. We are kept by the power of God.

13.-Rose before six. This God is our God for ever and ever, He will be our guide even unto death. The Lord is my help and my shield. Thou hast been my help, leave me not nor forsake me, Thou God of my salvation. O my soul, why art thou disquieted within me; hope thou in God, for thou shalt still praise Him who is the help of thy countenance and thy God."

14.-Rose about a quarter to six. Without thee, O my God, I can do nothing. "Call upon Me in the day of trouble and I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me." 'Behold, I come quickly." Even so come, Lord Jesus, and take Thy people to Thyself. We shall meet the Lord in the air, and we shall ever be with the Lord. Comfort one another with these words; Fear not, little flock, it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."

15.-Rose at six. "Yet now why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, my way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God? Hast thou not known, hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth,

fainteth not, neither is weary? and there is no searching of His understanding. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall; but those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

16. Rose about six. How beautiful and wonderful are Thy works, O Lord! If we now look around us, we may see Thy great bounty, supplying the wants of men, and adorning this passing world with the beautiful works of Thy hands: the pastures are covered with flocks; the fields are covered with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing. Thou hast taught the little bird to build its nest, to train its tender brood, and to seek those climes best suited to it.

17.-Rose before six. "This God is our God for ever and ever, He will be our guide even unto death." May I be enabled by Thy grace, O my God, to walk consistently with the profession of godliness. May I walk as a child of the light, redeeming the time, knowing that the days are evil. Oh! may I have my heart in heaven, and may Thy kingdom be everlastingly established there, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

18.-Rose at a quarter-past seven. I have had, thanks be to my God, through His grace, many blessed thoughts of Him, and enjoyed the comforts of His Gospel this day.

Oh! to grace how great a debtor,

Daily I'm constrain'd to be:

May that Grace, Lord! like a fetter,

Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee."

I will never fail thee nor forsake thee."

19. How we poor creatures vary and change in our frames and feelings at one time enabled to cast all our burden upon the Lord, and rejoice in Him-at another

time cast down within us, so that we can scarcely look up to the hills from whence cometh our help. Oh! but Thou, O our God, hast loved us with an everlasting love, and wilt love us unto the end. Oh! praise, eternal praise to Thee, my God.

20.-Rose about six. Restore unto me the joys of Thy salvation, and uphold me with Thy free Spirit. Oh! may I have sweet communion and fellowship with Thee, my God, here below, for in Thy presence is fulness of joy. At Thy right hand there are pleasures for ever.

more.

21.-Rose a little past six. "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits, who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thy diseases, who crowneth thee with tender mercies and lovingkindness: forget not all His benefits." wouldst have me to be. yea, my all be Thine.

Ps. ciii. Make me what Thou

O, may all my days and hours,

22.-Rose at twenty minutes to six. "The Lord shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in, from this time forth evermore. He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. Whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, even every son which He receiveth. When His wrath is kindled but a little, blessed are all they that put their trust in Him."

23.-Rose about half-past five. As my day, so shall my strength be. "My grace is sufficient for thee, and my strength is perfected in thy weakness." Life is short and uncertain; we are as the moth that perisheth. “All flesh is grass, and the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field." Oh! blessed day shall that be, when Christ shall call our bodies from the dust; then shall we in our flesh see God with joy.

24.-Rose about a quarter to six. "Oh! satisfy me early with Thy mercies, that I may rejoice and be glad
