GOOD FRIDAY.

BLOW ye the trumpet in Zion, sound an alarm in my holy mountain. Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand.

Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord.

Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning, and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

And it shall come to pass afterwards, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and I will show wonders in heaven and in earth; the sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be delivered; for the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.

Glory be to the Father, &c.

COLLECT.

Almighty God, we beseech thee graciously to behold this thy family, for which our Lord Jesus Christ was contented to be betrayed, and given up into the hands of wicked men, and to suffer death upon the cross; who now liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end.

Then shall all repeat

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

Amen.

HYMN OF THANKSGIVING.

Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

For thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood, out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.

Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father, to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Blessing and honour, and glory and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. Amen.

ADORATION OF OUR BLESSED SAVIOUR.

O Lord Jesu Christ, who in the days of thy humiliation on earth for us sinful creatures wast despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; who wast wounded for our transgressions, and bruised for our iniquities; behold thou art the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world; and even as the brazen serpent in the wilderness, thou wert lifted up upon the cross, that whosoever believeth in thee should not perish but have everlasting life. To that cross grant that we may ever look for eternal salvation; that through thy most precious blood we may be washed from the vileness of our sins, and at the hour of death and the day of judgment we

may be upheld by thy most gracious and ready help and mercy, and, being delivered from the wrath to come, may be found among the blessed in thy everlasting kingdom, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

COLLECT.

O God, who declarest thy Almighty power most chiefly in shewing mercy and pity; mercifully grant unto us such a measure of thy grace, that we, running the way of thy commandments, may obtain thy gracious promises, and be made partakers of thy heavenly treasure, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

BENEDICTORY PRAYER.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, &c.

JESUS is risen.

EASTER DAY.

Now is Christ risen from the dead and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam all die, so in Christ shall all be made alive. I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth, and though worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God, whom I shall see for myself, and not another.

Behold I tell you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump.

For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

It is Christ that died, yea, rather that is risen again, who is at the right hand of God, who maketh intercession for us. Who after he had offered one sacrifice for sin, for ever sat down at the right hand of God.

Glory be to the Father, &c.

Then shall all repeat

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

Our Father, which art in heaven, &c.

COLLECT.

Almighty God, who through thine only begotten Son Jesus Christ hast overcome death, and opened unto us the gate of everlasting life, we humbly beseech thee, that as by thy special grace preventing us, thou dost put into our minds good desires, so by thy continual help we may bring the same to good effect, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

PRAYER FROM THE EPISTLE.

Most merciful Father, give unto us thy servants grace that we may be found among them that are risen with Christ, and who seek those things that are above, where Christ sitteth at the right hand of God.

That we may set our affections on things above, not on things on the earth; that being dead to sin, our life may be hid with Christ in God, and when Christ who is our life shall appear, we may also appear with him in glory.

That we may mortify our members which are upon the earth, and avoiding all inordinate affection, uncleanness, evil desires, and covetousness which is idolatry, we may pass the short time of our sojourning here in godly fear, through Jesus Christ, who is the very Paschal Lamb which was offered for us, and hath taken away the sin of the world, who by his death hath destroyed death, and by his rising again hath restored to us everlasting life. Amen.

THANKSGIVING.

Accept, O Lord, we beseech thee, our unfeigned thanks and praises to thy divine Majesty, for the renewed instance of thy incomprehensible mercy and goodness vouchsafed to us this day, in enabling us once more to commemorate the resurrection of our blessed Lord and Saviour, who brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel, and overcame the sharpness of death, that he might open the kingdom of heaven to all believers; to whom with thee and
