EPISTLE. Cor. iv. 5. 14.

RETHREN: We preach not ourselves, but our Lord Jesus Christ; and we call ourselves your servants for Jesus's sake for God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to manifest the knowledge of the glory of God in the person of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels; that the excellency thereof may be acknowledged to be of the power of God, and not of us. We have tribulation on every side, but are not distressed by it: we are in straits, but not destitute; we suffer persecution, but are not forsaken we are cast down, but not lost; bearing always in our bodies the sufferings of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our bodies. For we, that live, are constantly delivered up to death for the sake of Jesus; that so the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. Death therefore worketh in us, and life in you.
