AT A MEETING OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH &C. HELD IN PHILADELPHIA, IN MAY, 1807,

"The Rev. Archibald Alexander, the Rev. James P. Wilson, and the Stated and Permanent Clerks were appointed a committee to select such parts of the records of this Assembly, as they may deem proper for publication: and it was made the duty of the Stated Clerk to superintend the printing of the same, and to apportion and send the printed Extracts to all the Presbyteries."

Minutes of the General Assembly.

MAY 21st, 1807.

THE General Affembly of the Prefbyterian Church, in the United States of America, met, agreeably to appointment, in the First Presbyterian Church in the City of Philadelphia, at 11 o'clock A. M.

The Affembly was opened by the Rev. Doct. Samuel Miller, the Moderator of the last Affembly, with a fermon from Phil. iii. 8. "Yea, doubtless, and I count all things but lofs for the excellency of the knowledge of Chrift Jefus my Lord."

After prayer, the Commiffions were read; and it appeared that the following ministers and elders were duly appointed, and attended as Commiffioners to this Affembly, viz.

Of the Prefbytery of Oneida;

The Rev, Samuel F. Snowden.

Of the Prefbytery of Columbia;

The Rev. Reuben Sears.

Of the Prefbytery of Albany;

The Rev. Joel Bradley.

Of the Prefbytery of Hudson ;

The Rev. Archibald Alexander was chofen Moderator, and the Rev. Robert Cathcart, temporary Clerk.

The Rev. Nathanael Irwin, having on account of the state of his health, refigned his office as Permanent Clerk, the Rev. John E. Latta was elected his fucceffor.

The Affembly found it expedient to revive the office of Stated Clerk, and chose the Rev. Jacob J. Janeway as Stated Clerk.‡

The delegates to the General Affociation of the State of Connecticut, Reported,

That agreeably to their appointment, they all attended the Affociation, from the commencement to the close of the feffions.—That they were received with the greatest cordiality, and uniformly treat

The Stated Clerk resides in Philadelphia, and, by order of the Assembly, has the keeping of their records, &c.
