SIR, As my Dedications are all without permission, I feel the same right and liberty to press a volume of “ The Republican" upon your attention, as upon that of any one of your Fellow Citizens, and as your attention will very soon be drawn to the question of Free Discussion, I wish to prepare your mind for it, by discussing it with you. I have been looking round to see what portly' person's patronage I could best invoke, for so portly a volume of “ The Republican," and I could fix on no one worth a moment's notice for that purpose but yourself.

You cannot be ignorant of the character of “ The Republican,” after so many attentions paid to it by your Ministers and Law Officers; after it has filled the saintly Sidmouth with consternation, after Castlereagh bas pulled it from his pocket to illuminate himself and the members of the Honourable the House of Commons, and after your bright attorney, Robert Gifford, has filed some fifty informations against it, you must be well acquainted with it, and you have a right to conclude that I am disloyal, or rather
