I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works; and men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts, and I will declare thy greatness. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way. Prov. viii. 13.

A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast.-Prov. xii. 10.

He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly, he that despiseth the gain of oppression, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes; that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from

seeing evil; he shall dwell on high, &c.-Isa. xxxiii. 15, 16.

I remember, &c. the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, &c.-Jer. ii. 2. When the king asked Daniel thus: Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof? Daniel an swered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded, cannot the wise men, &c. shew unto the king? But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king, &c.-Dan. ii. 26-28.

Then they that feared the Lord, spake often one to another; and the Lord hearkened and heard, &c.—Mal. iii. 16. Matt. xiii. 51, 52.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, &c. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peace-makers, for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.-Matt. v. 3-10. John xvi. 20. Prov. xxvii. 7.

He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me: and he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.-Matt. x. 37, 38. xvi. 24. Luke xiv. 33. Ps. xlv. 10, 11.

He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth abroad.-Matt. xii. 30.

The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hid in a field, the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof, goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. Matt. xiii. 44. Luke x. 39. 42.

Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matt. xviii. 3, 4. Zacharias was righteous before God, walking in all the commandments of the Lord blameless.—Luke i. 5, 6.

The woman to whom much was forgiven, loved Christ much.--Luke vii. 37, 38. 45-47.

If I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.-Luke xix. 8.

When Andrew had found Christ himself, he tells his brother Simon, and brings him to Jesus; Philip tells Nathanael and leads him to Jesus.John i. 40-45. iv. 28, 29.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily I say unto thee, except a man be born again (or from above) he cannot see the kingdom of God, &c. Except a man be born of water, and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh, is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit, &c. Every one that doeth evil, hateth the light, &c. But he that doeth truth, cometh unto the light, that his deeds may be made manifest that they are wrought in God.--John iii, 3.5, 6. 20, 21.

John was a burning and a shining light, &c. Ye have not his word abiding in you; for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.-John v.

Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life.-John vi. 68.

If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed, &c. If ye were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham, &c. If God were your Father, ye would love me; for I proceeded forth and came from God, &c. He that is of God, heareth God's words; ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God. sheep follow him, for they know his voice; and a stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him, for they know not the voice of strangers, &c. I know my sheep, and am known of mine, &c. My sheep hear my voice, &c. and they follow me.-John x. 3— 5. 14. 27.

Jesus said, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head, &c. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.John xiii. 8. 35.

If ye love me, keep my commandments, &c. He that hath my com mandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me, &c. If a man love me, he will keep my words.→→→John xiv. 15. 21. 23. xv. 14.

Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh away, and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit, &c. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. John xv. 2. 16. 18, 19.

The world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I, &c.-John xvii. 14.

Ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, &c.—John xvi. 20.

Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice.-John xviii. 37. viii. 37. 47.

They were pricked in their heart, and said, Men and brethren, What shall we do?Acts ii. 37. xvi. 30.

When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and took know, ledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. We cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.-Acts iv. 13. 20.

Saul, when Christ came to him, The sheep hear his voice, &c. The and converted him, said, Lord, what

wilt thou have me to do?-Acts ix. 6. ii. 37, &c. xvi. 30, &c.

God is no respecter of persons; but in every nation, he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accept ed with him.-Acts. x. 34, 35.

When the priest of Jupiter would have done sacrifice to the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out, and saying, Sirs, Why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you; and preach unto you, that ye should turn from these vanities, unto the living God. Acts xiv. 13-15. iii. 12, 13.

Apollos, that eloquent man, was content to learn the way of God more perfectly, of Aquila and Priscilla, tent makers.-Acts xviii. 24-26.

Many that believed, came and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many also of them which used curious arts, brought their books together, and burned them; and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.-Acts xix. 18, 19. None of these things move me: neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I have received.--Acts xx. 24.

I am ready, not to be bound only, but also to die for the name of the Lord Jesus.Acts xxi. 13.

I wist not that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler, &c.-Acts xxiii. 4, 5.

Paul confesseth freely thus: I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus. Which thing I also did in Jerusalem; and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, &c. and being exceeding mad against them, I persecuted them, &c. I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me, &c. were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.—Acts xxvi. 9—11. 29. Gal. i. 13. Acts xxii. 19. 22.

We glory in tribulations also, know

ing that tribulation worketh patience, &c. The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.→→ Rom. v. 3. 5.

How shall we that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? &c. Ye were the servants of sin; but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you: being made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.-Rom. vi. 2. 17, 18.

That which I do, I allow not: what I would, that I do not; but what I hate, that do I, &c. I consent unto the law, that it is good now then, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me, &c. To will is present with me, &c. The good that I would, I do not, &c. I find then a law, that when I would do good, evil is present with me: for I delight in the law of God, after the inward man; but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, &c.

O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me? &c. I thank God, through Jesus, &c. So, then, with my mind I myself serve the law of God: but with the flesh, the law of sin.-Rom. vii. 15–25.

There is therefore no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus; who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit, &c. For they that are after the flesh, do mind the things of the flesh: but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit, &c. If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his: and if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness, &c. As many as are led by the Spirit of God, are the sons of God: for ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba, Father, &c. We ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body, &c.-Rom. viii. 1. 5. 9, 10. 14,

15. 23.

I have great heaviness, and con

tinual sorrow in my heart, &c. for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh, &c.-Rom. ix. 2, 3. x. 1. i The kingdom of God is. not meat and drink, but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ, is acceptable to God, and, &c. Rom. xiv. 17, 18.

may be accepted of him, &c. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men, &c. The love of Christ constraineth us, &c. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.2 Cor. v. 2. 4. 8, 9. 11. 14. 17. Phil. i. 21. 23.

Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates, &c. We can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.→ 2 Cor. xiii. 5. 8.

The preaching of the cross, is to them that perish, foolishness: but unto us, which are saved, it is the power of God, &c. Christ crucified unto the Jews a stumbling-block, &c. When it pleased God, &c. to reveal but unto them which are called, both his Son in me, that I might preach Jews and Greeks, Christ the power him, &c. immediately I conferred not of God, and the wisdom of God. with flesh and blood.-Gal. i. 15, 16. 1 Cor. i. 18. 23, 24. I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless, I live: yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.-Gal. ii. 20.

Such were some of you, but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, &c. 1 Cor. vi. 11.

That no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. 1 Cor. xii. 3.

! Though I speak with the tongues of men, and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal and though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing: and though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.-1 Cor. xiii. 1-3. We beholding, &c. the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image, &c. by the Spirit.-2 Cor. iii. 18. We having the same Spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken: we also believe, and therefore speak.-2 Cor. iv. 13. Ps. cxvi. 10. Acts iv. 20.

In this we groan earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house from heaven, &c. that mortality might be swallowed up of life. We are willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord: wherefore we labour, that whether present, &c. we

The works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, &c. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: and they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh, with the affections (or passions) and lusts.-Gal. v. 19-24.

God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom (or whereby) the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world: for in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, &c. but a new creature. Gal. vi. 14, 15..

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their minds, &c. But ye have not so learned Christ: if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus. -Eph. iv. 17-21. la

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light, for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.-Eph. v. 8, 9.

Some preach Christ out of envy and strife, &c. What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is

preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice-Phil. i. 15-18. We are the circumcision, which worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, &c. What things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ: yeas doubtless, and I count all things but loss, for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord, &c. that I may know him, and the power of his resurrec tion, being made conformable unto his death, if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead: not as though I had already. attained, either were already perfect; but I follow after, &c. but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark, &c. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded, &c. Our conversation is in heaven, from whence also we look for the Saviour, &c.-Phil. iii. 3.7, 8. 10-15.20.

I have learned in whatsoever estate I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound every where; and in all things I am instructed, both to be full and to be hungry; both to abound, and suffer need: I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me. Phil. iv. 11–13.

. And bringeth forth fruits, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth. -Col. i. 6.

If ye be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, &c. Set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth, &c. Seeing that ye have put off the old man, with his deeds; and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge, after the image of him that created him.-Col. iii. 1, 2. 9, 10.

Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, &c. knowing, beloved, 'your election of

God. For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, &c. and ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, &c. ye turned to God, to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son.1 Thess. i. 3-6. 9, 10.

The word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe: for ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God, which in Judea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen. 1 Thess. ii. 13, 14.0

Ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief: ye are all the children of the light, &c.1 Thess. v. 4, 5.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, &c. who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious; but I obtained mercy, &c. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the chief. —1 Tim. i. 12, 13. 15.

Let every one that nameth the name of Christ, depart from iniquity.2 Tim. ii. 19.

A peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus ii. 14. Eph. ii. 10. He that is entered into his rest, hath ceased from his own works.Heb. iv. 10.

They who believe, desire a better country; that is, an heavenly, &c. Moses, &c. choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt, &c. Heb. xi. 16. 24-26.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which, no man shall see the Lord.-Heb. xii. 14.

We trust we have a good conscience in all things, willing to live honestly. -Heb. xii. 18.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this
