In the compilation of the Hymn Book, now offered to the public in a second edition, I have had in the selection of the hymns, the kind assistance of parents and others, interested in the welfare of the young. The rapid sale of 1500 copies seemed to warrant the conclusion that an inexpensive and carefully selected series of hymns was not uncalled for, and that I was justified in issuing a second edition.
This selection has been made solely on the apprehended merit of the hymns, irrespective of the creed or circumstances of the writers. The result is that among the fifty authors whose names are attached to the hymns, there are to be found christians of various
