RELATING TO A

Charity-school

I

TO BE ERECTED AT

B O MEAT.

To the Rev. Mr Richard Cobbe, Chaplain to the honourable the Governor and Council at Bombay.

Rev. Sir, Mid[e Tm?k>

14 Feb. 1718-19.

npHIS accompanies a packet of the Society's books dispersed this year, of which they desire your acceptance, being recommended to the care of Mr Robert Watts.

I received no letter from you since that of the nth of October 1715, of which I hope you will excuse the use I have made in page 176 of the third part of letters accompanying this, that our Clergy here may know that the East Indies is not so frightful a place to live in as many are apt to imagine.

The Society will be glad to hear of your having been able to effect the setting up a Charity School at Bombay, in imitation of that at Fort St George; and if a Master be wanting, upon a signification of it from the Governor and Council, by aline in a letter to the Company, all imaginable care will be used to provide one: be pleased in your letter to me at the same time to signify what encouragement he may expect.
