Franklin J. Firth, born in 1842, was the president of the Erie Transportation Company in the last 19th Century. He passed away a year after this book was written in Philadelphia. On the first page of this copy, it shows that the book was a gift from his son, the Rev. A.H. Hord, who had married his daughter Annie in 1903.
