Thee we adore, O hidden Saviour, Thee

There is a blessed home

There is a fountain filled with Blood
There is a green hill far away
There is a land of pure delight
There is a pure and tranquil wave
There is a river, deep and broad
Thine for ever! God of love
This is the day of light..

Thou are gone to the grave! but we will not deplore

Thou art gone up on high

Thou art the Way, by Thee alone
Thou boundless source of every good

Thou Judge of quick and dead

Thrice holy Name! that sweeter sounds
Through all the changing scenes of life
Through midnight gloom from Macedon
Through the day Thy love hath spared us
Thy goodness, Lord, our souls confess
Thy way, not mine, O Lord

Try us, O God, and search the ground

We name Thy Name, O God ..

We saw Thee not, when Thou didst tread
We sing His love, Who once was slain
We thank Thee, Lord, for this fair earth
We walk by faith, and not by sight
Weary of all this wordy strife
Weary of earth, and laden with my sin
What God does is done aright..
When all Thy mercies, O my God
When at Thy footstool, Lord, I bend
When came in flesh the Incarnate Word

When Christ from Heaven came down of old
When Christ the Lord would come on earth
When cold our hearts, and far from Thee
When gathering clouds around I view
When God of old came down from Heaven
When I survey the wondrous Cross
When in the hour of utmost need
When Jesus left His Father's throne
When our heads are bowed with woe..
When the dark waves round us roll
When the Paschal evening fell..
When the weary, seeking rest
When Thou, O Lord, in flesh wert drest
When wounded sore, the stricken soul
Where high the Heavenly Temple stands
Where is the Christian's Fatherland
Where shall we find the Lord
Where shall we learn to die

While with ceaseless course the sun ..

Why comes this fragrance on the summer breeze
Winter reigneth o'er the land

With glory clad, with strength arrayed
With trembling awe the chosen three
Within the Father's house

Ye faithful few of Israel's captive days
Ye servants of the Lord..
Ye sons of earth; prepare the plough..
Ye that have spent the silent night
Yes, God is good; in earth and sky

1. At Thy feet, O Christ, we lay
Thine own gift of this new day:
Doubt of what it holds in store
Makes us crave Thine aid the more:
Lest it prove a time of loss,
Mark it, Saviour, with Thy Cross.

2. If it flow on calm and bright,
Be Thyself our chief delight;
If it bring unknown distress,
Good is all that Thou canst bless:
Only, while its hours begin

Pray we, keep them clear of sin.

3. We in part our weakness know,
And in part discern our foe;
Well for us, before Thine eyes
All our danger open lies:

Turn not from us, while we plead
Thy compassions and our need.

4. Fain would we Thy Word embrace,
Live each moment in Thy grace,
All ourselves to Thee consign,
Fold up all our wills in Thine,
Think, and speak, and do, and be,
Simply that which pleases Thee.

5. Hear us, Lord, and that right soon;
Hear, and grant the choicest boon
That Thy love can e'er impart,
Loyal singleness of heart;

So shall this and all our days,

Christ our God, shew forth Thy praise.

[blocks in formation]

1. Awake, my soul, and with the sun
Thy daily stage of duty run;
Shake off dull sloth, and joyful rise
To pay thy morning sacrifice.

2. Thy precious time mis-spent redeem;
Each present day thy last esteem;
Improve thy talent with due care;
For the great day thyself prepare.
3. In conversation be sincere;

Keep conscience as the noontide clear;
Think how All-seeing God thy ways
And all thy secret thoughts surveys.
4. Lord, I my vows to Thee renew;
Disperse my sins as morning dew;
Guard my first springs of thought and will,
And with Thyself my spirit fill.
