The history of that greatest moral movement of modern times, usually called the Reformation, abounds in striking events and characters, and is rich with inferences of wisdom and truth. Rightly told, it furnishes also impressive lessons of piety and doctrine. Too often it scarce can be repeated, and it should never fade from the public mind. The want has hence been felt by our publishers of a work written in the spirit of the Reformers, embracing the entire scope of the subject, which, less voluminous than that of D’Aubigné, should present the story with popular effect.
