eth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

2 To see thy power, and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

3 Because thy loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips :

6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night-watches.

7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

8 My soul followeth hard after thee thy right hand upholdeth me.

:

9 Thou drewedst near in the day that I called upon thee.

10 The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

11 The Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

12 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee; yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

13 I will cry unto God most high unto God that performeth all things for me.

heart is overwhelmed lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

16 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

17 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings.

18 As for me and my house, we will fear the Lord.

19 I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.

20 My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.

21 As for me, I will call upon God: and the Lord shall save

me.

22 Evening and morning, and at noon will I pray, and cry aloud; and he shall hear my voice.

23 There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

24 Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

25 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.

26 Give us help from trouble for vain is the help of man.

:

15 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my

therefore we will wait upon thee, for thou hast made all things.

LESSON CIII.

UNTO thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens!

2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

3 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

4 Whom have I in heaven, but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire besides thee.

5 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart and my portion for ever.

6 Let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy; because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

7 For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

8 My soul, wait thou only upon God: for my expectation

is from him.

9 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

10 In God is my salvation, and my glory: the rock of my strength and my refuge is in God.

11 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for

us.

12 Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.

13 Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

¶ 14 God hath spoken once, twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

15 Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

16 Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

17 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light

unto me.

18 I will bear the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgement for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

19 For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee. Thou, Lord, hast holpen me, and comforted me.

20 Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

21 In the multitude of my thoughts within me, thy comforts delight my soul.

22 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.

23 Let me fall into the hand of the Lord, for very great are his mercies; but let me not fall into the hand of man.

24 Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.

25 For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living? 26 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

27 In God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

28 Let them now that fear the Lord say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

29 I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.

30 The Lord is on my side, I will not fear. What can man do unto me?

31 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in

man.

32 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.

33 Out of the mouth of the Most High proceedeth not evil and good?

34 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my tru st. 35 O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my

Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;

36 But to the saints that are in the earth and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

37 Thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

38 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

39 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

40 O how great is thy goodness which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee, before the sons of men!

41 O Lord, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou our arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.

LESSON CIV.

I LOVE the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.

2 Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

3 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

4 Then called I upon the name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. 5 Gracious is the Lord and righteous yea, our God is merciful.

6 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.

7 For our heart shall rejoice righteousness wilt thou answer in him, because we trusted in us, O God of our salvation; his holy name. who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the

8 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

9 I will walk before the Lord, in the land of the living.

10 My times are in thy hand; make thy face to shine upon thy servant; save me, for thy mercies' sake.

11 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.

12 O Lord, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid : thou hast loosed my bonds.

13 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.

14 I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people;

15 In the courts of the Lord's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.

16 Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Zion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.

¶ 17 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh

come.

18 Iniquities prevail against me as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.

19 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

sea.

¶ 21 A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.

22 O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from thee shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters.

23 Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

24 Behold, they say unto me, Where is the word of the Lord? let it come now.

25 As for me, I have not hastened from being a pastor to follow thee: thou knowest; that which came out of my lips was right before thee.

26 Be not a terror unto me: thou art my hope in the day of evil. Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.

LESSON CV.

Bow down thine ear, O Lord, hear me for I am poor and needy.

2 Preserve my soul, O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee.

3 Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.

7 I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the Lord.

8 I will be glad, and rejoice in thy mercy for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;

9 And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

¶ 10 Lord, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?

11 In the day when I cried, thou answeredst me and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

12 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.

13 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

14 He knoweth the way that I take when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

:

15 My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.

17 I remember the days of old, I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.

18 Every one that is godly shall pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found.

19 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.

20 It is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.

21 Mine eyes are ever towards the Lord: for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
