cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

14 Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.

15 Say unto God, how terrible art thou in thy works? through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

16 All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name.

17 Come and see the works of God; he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.

18 He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.

19 He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves.

20 Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

21 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder, he burneth the chariots in the fire.

22 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

23 Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name'; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth; the Lord is upon many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

25 The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion, like a young unicorn.

26 The voice of the Lord di videth the flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness; the Lord shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.

¶ 27 O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness; the earth shook; the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai it self was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

28 He stretched out his hand over the sea, he shook the kingdoms.

29 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

30 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

31 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet. And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly, upon the wings of the wind.

32 He made darkness his secret place; his pavillion round about him were dark waters 24 The voice of the Lord is and thick clouds of the skies.

33 At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed; hail-stones and coals of fire.

34 The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hailstones and coals of fire. Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

35 Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

36 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God? Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

37 The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee: they were afraid; the depths also were troubled.

38 The clouds poured out water; the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.

39 The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world, the earth trembled and shook.

40 Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.

41 The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever.

LESSON XVI.

mine horn is exalted in the Lord: because I rejoice in thy salvation.

2 There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth; for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

4 The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girt with strength.

5 They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath borne seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.

6 The Lord killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.

7 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and he hath set the world upon them.

8 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness: for by strength shall no man prevail : for God hath power to help, and to cast down.

9 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no

My heart rejoiceth in the Lord, might he increaseth strength.

10 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.

11 The Lord God of hosts is he that toucheth the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood: and shall be drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.

12 It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth; The Lord is his name.

13 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his

name.

14 For lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The Lord, the God of hosts is his name.

15 Bless the most High, praise and honour him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to gene

ration.

16 All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

17 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing. And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt-offering. All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

LESSON XVII.

FEAR ye not me? saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it; and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.

2 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

3 Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: Is there any thing too hard for me?

4 Yea, before the day was, I am He, and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

5 I am a great King, saith the Lord of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the heathen. The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.

6 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

7 Thus saith the Lord, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters: which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power:

8 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord's thy God, the earth also with all that therein is.

9 Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again : he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

10 Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.

11 With him is strength and wisdom, the deceived and the deceiver are his.

12 He leadeth counsellors away spoiled; and maketh the judges fools.

13 He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

14 He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.

15 He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh

away the understanding of the aged.

16 He poureth contempt up. on princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.

17 He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.

18 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them, he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

19 He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

4

20 Thereis no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord.

21 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.

22 Blessed be the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth.

23 Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of his glory. Sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and fear the God of Isreal.

24 The Lord of hosts is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

25 The Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

26 The Lord thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.

27 The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly. God is God of gods, and a Lord of kings.

28 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.

29 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens, and rejoice before him.

30 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them as in Sinai, in the, holy place.

31 Great is our Lord, and of great power; his understanding is infinite.

¶ 32 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any; he is mighty in strength and wisdom.

33 The Lord is great, and our Lord is above all gods; 34 Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:

35 Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth water upon the fields.

36 The Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory and for a diadem of beauty unto his people, and for a spirit of judgement to him that sitteth in judgement, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

37 Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever; for wisdom and might are his.

38 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.

39 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye

everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

40 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

41 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

42 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory.

LESSON XVIII.

BEHOLD, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.

2 For he maketh small the drops of water; they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof, which the clouds do drop, and distil upon man abundantly.

3 Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?

4 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.

5 For he judgeth the people; he giveth meat in abundance,

6 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine, by the cloud that cometh betwixt,

7 Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.

8 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.

9 Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth.

10 He directeth it under the
