THE following portions of the Parochial, Missionary, and other Clerical Reports, made to the Bishop of the Diocese, are published by his direction, in accordance with the following section, to which attention is respectfully requested, of

CANON 15, TITLE I.,

OF DIGEST OF THE CANONS OF THE GENERAL CONVENTION.

Of the Mode of securing an accurate View of the State of the Church.

§ I. As a full and accurate view of the state of the Church, from time to time, is highly useful and necessary, it is hereby ordered that every Minister of this Church, or, if the Parish be vacant, the Wardens, shall present, or cause to be delivered, on or before the first day of every Annual Convention, to the Bishop of the Diocese, or, when there is no Bishop, to the President of the Convention, a statement of the number of baptisms, confirmations, mar. riages, and funerals, and of the number of Communicants in his Parish or Church; also the state and condition of the SundaySchools in his Parish; also the amount of the Communion alms, the contributions for missions, diocesan, domestic, and foreign, for

parochial schools, for Church purposes in general, and of all other matters that may throw light on the same. And every Clergyman, not regularly settled in any Parish or Church, shall also report the occasional services he may have performed; and, if he have performed no such services, the causes or reasons which have prevented the same. And these Reports, or such parts of them as the Bishop shall think fit, may be read in Convention, and shall be entered on the Journals thereof.

ALBANY COUNTY.

During the year a subscription of upwards of $20,000 has been made, for the liquidation of the debt incurred in the erection of the new Church edifice. Of this sum, $15,238 has been paid.

The congregation has cheerfully assumed the support of an institution for the maintenance and education of orphan and destitute children, for the most part the children of soldiers. It is intended to increase the number of those who share its benefits to 20 or 25. The younger members of the congregation act as teachers in the school.

The Church edifice has been enriched by the addition of two very beautiful and valuable windows, of stained glass, as memorials of two deccased members of the Parish.

No further items of interest occur as worthy of special mention. It is hoped that the usefulness of the Parish will be promoted by its relief from the pressure of debt.

Trinity Church, Albany; the Rev. EDWARD SELKIRK, Rector.

Total number of young persons instructed, 145. Daily Parish Schools: scholars: males, 50; females, 75. The Rector superintends the Sunday-School, and catechises the children more or less each Sunday. Celebration of Divine Service: morning and evening; Sundays, 50-total services, 100; Holy Days, Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, &c.; other days, all the days of Lent, with two services on Wednesdays and Fridays, with lecture on Wednesday and Friday evenings-total, 162.

Catechumens: number of children taught the Catechism openly in the Church, about 300. Daily Parish Schools: two paid and free; one of these is an evening school for operatives; scholars, 70. Celebration of Divine Service: Sundays, twice; Holy Days, once; other days, twice daily in Lent; twice weekly throughout the rest of the year.

In the above statement of contributions, those only are included which have been made through the Offertory. Besides, subscriptions amounting to $500 to pay the mortgage on the Church, and about $400 for necessary repairs, have been paid within the year. The congre gation has been still further reduced by removals, and no Baptisms or Confirmations can be reported; but the Church is well filled on Sundays, in great part by the students of the Hudson River Institute, and is thought to be doing, in a quiet way, some good service.
