The ladies of the Parish organized themselves last winter into a society for the systematic relief of the necessitous poor of the town. The poor were visited at their homes, their temporal wants ministered to, employment found for such as needed it, and habits of thrift and cleanliness encouraged. Besides this, rooms were engaged in which soup was made and distributed under proper restrictions, and assistance rendered in the making of garments. The Society visited and rendered assistance to 22 families; furnished soup twice a week during the most inclement weather to, on the average, 40 or 50 persons; at the mothers' sewing-meetings twice a week, the number present averaged 12, and 95 garments were made and distributed.

Services at Lawrenceville and Brush's Mills are continued. The subscription for the Church at Brush's Mills is so far progressed as to render it quite certain, with the Divine blessing, that the building will be erected next season.

The sittings in the Church are in so great demand that it is proposed to enlarge the Church next spring to meet the need.

This Report is not as full as it otherwise might have been, owing to the fact that the Parish was without a Rector from September, 1864, to May, 1865. The Report, therefore, strictly embraces the period contained between the dates of September and May. The growth of Church life and Church principles seems steadily on the increase. The attendance on the Services is larger than that of any other period in the history of the Parish.

I have held occasional Services at two villages in this vicinity (Acra and the Forge), and both the interest shown by the people and the attendance has been very good. About 300 persons avall themselves, at times, of the ministrations of the Church in this town. But few, however, of this number can be called Church people, and the field is yet true Missionary ground. A few zealous Church families maintain the Services. These do well for their means and number. My ministrations here commenced December 1, 1864. Since that date, the Church edifice has been repaired, and new lamps furnished for the interior. Other improvements (particularly in the Chancel) are in contemplation. Funds have been raised (by the exertions of the ladies of the Parish) to paint the outside of the building. I am expecting (in conjunction with Rev. Mr. Bates, of Oak Hill) to supply occasional services (temporarily) for the Parish at Windham, in this county, which is now vacant.

These extra Services have been attended by various names of Christians, and have afforded a good opportunity to explain the doctrines and usages of the Episcopal Church. This Parish most thankfully acknowledges the aid given it by the Missionary Society of the Dioeese, as well as that received from the Convocation of Northern New York.

Prayer Books and Tracts have been promptly given us for circulation by the New York Bible and Common Prayer Book Society, and by the Northern Convocation.
