THE services in this book are compiled mainly from The Altar, a service book for Sunday schools, by Rev. J. G. Bartholomew. Since it has been out of print there have been constant calls for its republication. Some of our best schools continue to use it, and others discontinued its use only when it could no longer be supplied. The text of the American revised version of the Bible has been adopted to conform with the text of the lessons published in the Sunday School Helper, and used in most of our Sunday schools. The Twelfth Service was contributed by the Pastor of the Universalist Church at Hartford, Conn., in whose school it is in use. The prayers of this service may be used with any other service. The Thirteenth Service was arranged by the late Rev. James M. Pullman, D.D., for the Sunday school of the last church of which he was Pastor, at Lynn, Mass., where it has been in use many years. It may meet the requirements of those schools that prefer to use only one form of service. Special services are provided for the days of special observance recommended by the Universalist General Convention. vided. Benedictions, Closing Prayers, and Professions of Belief, are also pro |
