Jer. 2. 19. Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord God of hosts.

502. What does God require of backsliders ?
Jer. 3. 14. Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: 22. Return, ye backsliding children; and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God.
Hos. 10. 12. Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fa!low ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he coine and rain righteousness upon you.
Rev. 2. 4. I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
Rev.3, 1. And unto the angel of the church in Sar. dis, write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
Christ prays for saints. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Rom. 8. 34. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Heb. 7. 25. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
504. Does the Holy Spirit also intercede for the saints, and seal them unto redemption ?
Rom. 8. 26. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
2 Cor. 1. 21. Now he which establisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22. Wbo hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. Ep. 1. 13.
After that ye believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance.
Ep. 4. 30. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
2 Tim. 2. 19. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
505. Is it certain that every real saint will be kept through faith unto salvation ?
Job 17.9. The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

Ps. 37. 23. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.
Ps. 89. 30. If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments; If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments; Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless, my loving-kindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me. It shall be established forever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven.
Pr. 4. 18. But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
Ís. 54. 10. For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee,
Jer. 32. 40. I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, and they shall not depart from me.
