Death in impenitence-End of hypocrites. talents, and Lk. 19. 12-27. Parable of the pounds. See 352.]

535. Do any die impenitent and unbelieving ?

Pr. 5. 22. His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

Pr. 14. 32. The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

Jn. 8. 21. Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.

2 Pet. 2. 12. But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption: And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day-time.

536. What will be the end of hypocrites?

Job 8. 13. The hypocrite's hope shall perish: Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web. 15-17.

Job 20. 5. The triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment. Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds; Yet he shall perish forever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he? he shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.

Job 27. 8. What is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul? Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him? Will he delight himself in the Almighty? will he always call upon God?

Unpardonable sin-Second death.

Job 36. 13. The hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them. They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.

537. Is there any sin which is unpardonable, and what is it ?

Mat. 12. 31. All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against tho Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

Mk. 3. 28. Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: but he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

Lk. 12. 10. Unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him.

1 Jn. 5. 16. If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

533.

Is there a second death for the wicked?

Rev. 2. 11. He that overcometh, shall not be hurt of the second death.

Ps. 20. 6. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God, and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. 14. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Rev. 21. 8. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and

sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

539. Will the righteous and wicked be separated?

Mat. 13. 30. Let both grow together until the harvest and in the time of harvest, I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Mat. 22. 11. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a weddinggarment: and he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither, not having a wedding-garment. And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Mat. 25. 31. When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory. And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats. And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Lk. 16. 26. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

540.

Will the finally impenitent, unbelieving, and unrighteous be shut out of heaven, and cast into hell?

Ps. 9. 17. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

Ps. 11. 6. Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and a horrible tempest.

Ps. 92. 9. For lo, thine enemies, O Lord, for lo,

Loss of the soul.

thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

Ps. 119. 155. Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.

Pr. 10. 24. The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

Ezk. 18. 14. The soul that sinneth, it shall die. Mat. 3. 7. O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come!

Mat. 5. 20. Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Mat. 7. 21. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Mat. 8. 11. Many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven: But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Mat. 10. 33. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is

in heaven.

Mat. 13. 40.

As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. 47. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the fur

nace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Mat. 24. 50. The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Mat. 25. 10. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready, went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterwards came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily, I say unto you, I know you not. 30. Cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Mk. 8. 38. Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me, and of my words, in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Lk. 13. 23. Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gait: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

Jn. 5. 28. The hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection
