Children. 54, Ought children to be dutiful to their parents ?

Pr. 1. 8. My son, hear the instructions of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

Pr. 6. 20. My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee: and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

Pr. 13. 1. A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

Pr. 23. 22. Hearken unto thy father which begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.

Ep. 6. 1. Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honor thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Respect to parents—Disobedience to parents. Col. 3. 20. Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

55. Ought the young to respect the aged, and to honor and requite their parents !

Ex. 20. 12. Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Lev. 19. 3. Ye shall fear every man his mother and his father. 32. Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honor the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the Lord.

57. Is the season of childhood and youth critical and important ?

58. Is early piety required and encouraged ?

Pr. 8. 17. I love them that love me: and those that seek me early shall find me.

Ec. 12. 1. Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.

Christ Jesus. 59. Did Christ set us an example of perfect righteousness?
