CHAP. XII.

8 And 1 heard, but I understood not: then said 1, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things ? 9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel; for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

T HOSEЛ.

HE word of the LORD that came unto Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judali, aud in the days of Jeroboain the son of Joash, king of Israel.

2 The beginning of the word of the Lond by Hosea. And the Lond said lo Hosea, Go take unto thee a wife of whoredoms, and children of whore loms: for the land bath committed great whoredoms, departing from the LORD.

3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.

17 For I will take away the names of Baalin out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their

name.

18 And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.

CHAP. IV.

13 They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains,and burn inceuse upon the hills, under oaks, and poplars, and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.

14 I will not punish your daughters. 4 Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest

5 Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.

15 T Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-aven, nor swear, The Lord liveth

16 For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the Loup will feed them as a lamb in a large place.

8 Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel whercin is no pleasure.

9 For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.

10 Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes. 11 Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.

12 I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing. 13 They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins; they shall return to Egypt.
