9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God,

17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

19 So we see that they could not ter in because of unbelief. CHAP. IV.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do 14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the en-feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

LET us therefore fear, lest, & prom. ise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

4 For if he were on earth he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to ile law;

5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See (saith he) that thou make all thingsaccording to the pattern showed to thee in the mount.

6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also tie is the mediator of a better cove nant, which was established upon better promises.

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place ùave been sought for the second.

8 For, finding fault with them, be saith, Behold the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new cove nant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my cove nant, and Iregarded them not, saith the Lord.

16 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, After those days, saith the Lord, 1 will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

1 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man bis brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

6 And over it the cherubime of glory shadowing the mercy-seat; of which we cannot now speak particularly. 6 Now, when these things were thus ordained, the priest went always inte the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God:

7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, and withfout blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: 8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of i was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing 9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washing, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

11 But Christ being come a high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, he entered in once into the holy place, bav ing obtained eternal redemption for us. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the
