PREFACE.

When the late Rev. Samuel Lavington, of Bideford, administered the Lord's Supper, he was accustomed to address the communicants, before and after the distribution of the bread and wine. The following are some of his Meditations on these occasions : they will be found adapted for the perusal of all christians, whenever they contemplate the sufferings of Christ, and remember his death as the foundation of all their happiness and all their hopes.
