Faith-Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb. 11. 1.
in God, And Jesus answering, saith unto them, have faith in God. Mark 11. 22. In Christ
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on hinh whom he hath sent. John 6. 29.
And in the Scriptures. And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa; and, as they went forth, Jehoshaphat, stood, and said, Hear me, o Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerú. salem ; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established ; believe his prophets, so shall'ye prosper. Then he said unto them, o fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken ! But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned ; and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them. And that from a child, thou hast known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation, through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Chron. 20. 20. Luke 24. 25. 2 Tim. 3. 14, 15.
Faith has for its Author JEHOVAH, --For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, accord. ing as God
hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Rom. 12. 3.
Father, And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona : for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Mat. 16. 17.
Son, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith : who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.Heb.12. 2.
And Spirit :-To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit. 1 Cor. 12. 9.
Ex Its subordinate means, the written-But these are
written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. John 20. 31.
And dispensed-Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word. John 17. 20.
Word of God ;-How then shall they call on bim in whom they have not believed ? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard ? and how shall they hear without a preacher ? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Rom. 10. 14, 17.
And the fruits of righteousness for its evidences.-Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists ; whereby we know that it is the last time. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? he is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Teaching 13, that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; Look. ing for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. i John 2. 18, 21, 22. Tit. 2. 12, 13. Jam. 2. 1420.
Justification, Seeing it is one God which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Rom. 3. 30.
Adoption,--For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Gal. 3. 26.
Sanctification. To open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26. 18.
God?! Love,-For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. John 16. 27.
Access to him by prayer,-In whom we have boldness, and access with confidence by the faith of him. Eph. 3. 12.
The Gift of the Holy Spirit,-He that believeth on me as the Scriptures hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive ; for the Holy Ghost was not yet given ; because that Jesus was not yet glorified. Jolin 7. 38, 39.
Heavenly Light, I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. John 12. 46.
Grace, Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesius Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. Grace and peace be mul. tiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 2 Pet. 1. 1, 2.
Joy and peace,--Now the God of hope fill you
with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Rom. 15. 13.
And eternal salvation, are connected with, or pron. ised “ to the faith of God's elect.”-For Gov so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Jolin 3. 16. Mark 9. 24.
LORD I BELIEVE; HELP THOU MINE UNBELIEF.
FREE GRACE is manifested in ELÉCTION, Even so then at this present time also there is a femnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then is it no more of works; otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace : otherwise work is no more work. Rom. 11. 5, 6.
Effectual calling -Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began. But when it pleased Gon, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen : immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered awhile, make you perfect, stab. lish, streygthen, settle you. 2 Tim. 1. 9. Gal. 1. 15, 16. 1 Pet. 5. 10.
Justification -Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ. Rom. 3.24.
Remission of Sins -In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace. Eph. 1.7.
Adoption,-Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are såved.) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Eph. 2. 5, 6.
Sanctificaron and their attendants or fruits. And God is able to make all GRACE abound toward you ; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things may abound to every good work. 2 Cor. 9. 8.
In faith,-_And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote exhorting the disciples to receive him ; who when he was come helped them much which had believed through GRACE. Acts 18. 27.
Hope,–Now our Lord Jesus Christ himse!f, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath, given us everlasting consolation, and good hope through
2 Thes. 2. 16.
Prayer_And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of GRACE, and of supplications : and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his first born. Zech. 12. 10.
And praise. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with GRACE in your hearts to the Lord. Col. 3. 16.
Indeed; salvation, from the foundation to the head. stone, is entirely of GRACE.-But God who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, by grace ye are saved :) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by GRACE are ye saved through faith ; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Who art thou, o great mountain ? before Zerubbabel thou shall become a plain : and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, GRACE, GRACE unto it. Eph. 2. 4-8. Zech. 4. 7.
