CHAP. VII.

I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. 1 No law hath power over a man longer than he liveth....7 The law is not sin, 12 For without the law sin was dead. but holy, just, and good. 9 For I was alive without the NOW ye not, brethren, (for law once: but when the comI speak to them that know mandment came, sin revived, the law) how that the law hath and I died.

not.

19 For the good that I would, I do not; but the evil which I would not, that I do.

20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

21 I find then a law, that when I would do good, evil is present with me.

22 For I delight in the law of God, after the inward man:

5 For they that are after the flesh, do mind the things of the flesh: but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace:

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

23 But I see another law in 8 So then they that are in the my members warring against the flesh cannot please God.
