And he left them, and departed. 5 And when, his disciples were come to the other side, do had forgotten to take bread. Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed, and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. 7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread. 8. Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason yearmong : because ye have o: no bread 1 * 9. 11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that, ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees 1 12.Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. 13 | When Jesus came into the coasts of Cesarea Philippi, he, asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I, the Son of man, am? o 14 And they said, Some say? that thou art John the Baptist: . some, Elias; and others, Jere-mias, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But who say ye that I am * 16 And Simon Peter answer- { ed and said, Thou art the Christ, the son of the iving God.” 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou Simon Bar-jona : for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto : thee, but my Father which is *

14 I. And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man kneeling down to him, and saying, 15 Lord, have mercy on my son; for he is lunatic, and sore ivexed, for oft-times he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. 16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. “ 17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you." how long shall I suffer you! Bring him hither to

Isle. 18 And Jesus rebuked the devil, and he departed out of him : and the child was cured from that very hour. * 19 Then came the o to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out ! 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief : for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard-seed, #. shall say unto this mountain, emove hence to yonder place: and it shall remove; and nothing shall be o: unto you. 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out, but by prayer and fas

ting. 22 T And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of manshall be betrayed into the hands of men: 23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry. 4 || And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute-money, came to Peter, and said, Doth not your Master pay tribute?

25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, sayin What thinkest thou, Simon! o whom do the kings of the earth . take custom or tribute 1 of their own children, or of strangers ? 26. Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. 27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up: and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of-money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. CHAP. XVIII. 1 Christ teacheth to be humble....7 Touching offences, 21 and forgiving one another. T the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven 1 2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. • 5 And whoso. shall receive one such little child in my name, receiveth me. • * 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 TI Wo unto the world because of offences ! for it must

needs be that offences come; but wo to that man by whom the offence cometh ! 8 Wherefore, if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into everlasting fire.

9 And if thine eye offend|W

thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell-fire. 10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones: for I say unto you, That in heaven

their angels do always behold

the face of my Father which is in heaven. 11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. 12 How think ve? If a man have a hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone

astray ! 13 And is so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. 14 Even so it is not the will

more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as a heathen man and a publican. 18 Verily, I say unto you, hatsoever ye shall bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth, as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are athered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. 21 [Then came Peter to him and said, ford, how of snail my brother sin against me, and I forgive him 1 till seven times 1 22 Jesus saith unto him, Isay not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. 23 || Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king which would take account of his servants. 24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him which owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. §§ he servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
