to God, can suffer real loss, either in property or reputation, for the open and undisguised avowal of his belief, that HE WHOM JESUS CHRIST WORSHIPPED, AND COMMANDED HIS FOLLOWERS TO WORSHIP, IS THE ONLY PROPER object of RelIGIOUS ADORATION; and for this inestimable privilege, the belivers in this doetrine will manifest their gratitude, (and they know not how to manifest it better) by publicly, statedly, and solemnly paying to him alone, the homage of their hearts. Occasionally too, as Divine Providence may give them opportunity, with plainness, soberness and candour, they will explain the principles of their be◄ lief, and the arguments on which they rest. They will invite the attention of serious and reflective Christians, and they are not without hope, that, if those persons, of enlightened views and blameless morals, who conscientiously doubt of the divine origin of the Christian Religion would candidly and patiently review with them the evidences of Christianity and the pure uncorrupted Christian doctrine, they would find much in the evidence which as philosophers they could not resist and every thing in the doctrine which as Fathers, husbands, brothers, friends and men, they must wish to be true, and must admit to be so, if they follow the just principles of reasoning. If in these endeavours to recommend the genuine Gospel of Christ they are successful, it is well-if not, they will at least have discharged their duty, and in whatever light they are viewed by others, they will be at peace with themselves; they will be able to look

backward with satisfaction, and forward with hope, conscious that He who judges of actions, not from their success, but from the purity and goodness of the motives from which they proceed, will regard them with approbation.

To sum up all ; the sole object which Unitarians have in view, is to remove the prejudices which ob struct inquiry, and obtain full and candid examination. Let then the evidences of Unitarianism be properly discussed, and its friends have no apprehensions as to the result. If a fair hearing be once obtained, the decision must be favourable. We have mighty advocates, whose voice is resistless. The mind of man pleads for us! Left to itself, it rises indignant at Creeds which fetter the understanding and narrow the heart. The word of God pleads for us! It bears our sentiments on every page, and rarely can it be perverted, or tortured, into the semblance of Trinitarianism. The Heavens and the Earth plead for us! Wherever they indicate design, it is benevolent design; and never has any one deduced from their appearances a plurality of Creators. The revelation of God, the reason of man, the constitution of nature, with united voice proclaim these eternal truths ;THERE IS ONE GOD, and, GOD IS LOVE.
