Here rest, my weary heart! CHRISTIAN HOPE AND SECURITY. 129. C. M. I'M not ashamed to own my Lord, Jesus, my Lord, I know his name! Firm as his throne his promise stands; And he can well secure What I've committed to his hands, Then will he own my worthless name And in the new Jerusalem, Appoint my soul a place. BLESS'D be the everlasting God, Be his abundant mercy praised, F From the dark chambers of the grave, That though the sons of Adam's race Shall all return to dust; Th' inheritance reserved in heaven, We by the power of God are kept, WHY should I think of pain or woe, I've Canaan's goodly land in view, Jerusalem, my happy home; (A name so dear to me!) My life and labors soon shall close In peace, and rest in thee. Yea, soon, thou city of my God, Shall I thy courts ascend, Where congregations ne'er break up, And meetings never end. To join apostles, martyrs, saints, WE'LL greatly glory in the Lord, Though many foes beset our road, Our life is hid with Christ in God, Weak as we are we shall not faint; As surely as he overcame, And triumphed o'er the foe; So surely all who love his name Shall triumph in him too. 133. S. M. TO God the only wise, Our Saviour and our King, With all the saints below the skies "Tis his almighty love, His counsel and his care, Preserve us safe from sin and death, And every hurtful snare. He will present our souls, Unblemished and complete, Before the glory of his face, With joys divinely great. Then all the chosen seed Shall meet around the throne; There stand, a people saved by grace, And wear the promised crown. 134. L. M. HIGH on his Father's royal seat, The Saviour sits divinely great; The same has been, the same shall be. THE Lord has promised good to me, He will my shield and portion be, And when my heart and flesh shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess within the veil, The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, WE gladly all our harps Down from the willows take; And loud in praise of love divine, Bid every string awake. His grace shall to the end Still stronger, brighter shine; Nor present things, nor things to come, The glorious time will come, And know Him even as we are known, O! holy, holy Lord! Salvation all is thine: Righteous art thou in all thy ways, 'TIS Jesus the Lord we adore; Our faithful, unchangeable friend; We praise him for all that is past, |
