'Tis thine each wandering soul to seek, (If driven, or left, or parted) To heal the weak, to tend the sick; To bind the broken hearted, May we, kind Shepherd, to thee cleave: Follow thy call, and to thee live. Teach us to walk in life's blest ways;— I WOULD not live always: I ask not to stay Where storm after storm rises dark o'er my way: The few cloudy mornings that dawn on us here, Are enough for life's woes, not enough for its cheer. I would not live always no !-welcome the tomb ! Since Jesus has died, and has entered its gloom; There in peace be my rest, till he bid me arise, To admire him in triumph ascending the skies. Who? who would live always ?-away from our God, Away from his peaceful and blissful abode ; Where the rivers of pleasure run through the bright plains, And the noontide of glory eternally reigns; Where saints of all ages in harmony meet, Their Saviour and brethren transported to greet; While the anthems of rapture unceasingly roll, And the smile of the Lord is the feast of the soul. 233.
